Hi all,
I have been pursuing a BSBA from TESU with an HR concentration. I have chronic depression and it has been slow going. The last few months I have basically ground to a halt. I hate this degree, I hate all my business classes and I wish I had just done a BALS. I am also worried about the BSBA capstone, i am really bad at case studies and i feel like i would do horribly. Is it too late to change to a BALS without wasting tons of credits? Can someone please have a look at the classes I've completed and tell me if they'd slot into a BALS instead? I feel like i could handle regular essays for the capstone way better than i could business case studies. My goal is just to have a bachelors degree in anything, nothing more. Thank you all for any help. I am also open to switching schools if necessary. I know it seems silly to switch things around with so few classes left. But I am just at the point where I feel like i'm going to quit altogether if i don't change something.
I attached my ace credit list by itself in case that is more clear (edit)
I would recommend doing a "what if" evaluation for a bals in the tesu my portal.
The gen ed's are the same so you got those done. Also the bals has 27 credits free electiv you have done. So the most you would need to is 30 credits for the aos but you have some of that done as well. It wont put you back too far at all.

that's a good idea thank you, i'll try that. maybe it works better than it did in the past. it used to dump half my stuff into free electives when i did the 'what if'.
I would refrain from switching, listen girlfriend... I highly recommend staying the course as the Business Capstone is actually a tad easier than the new BALS Capstone - in my view anyway. You may want to get your remaining courses done before even thinking about the Capstone. I've had many people on this board and on the sister board have issues stalling and getting scared of the Capstone... DON'T BE!
If Study.com isn't your cup of tea, just finish the LL/UL requirements with a couple of SL/Davar courses to finish off the remaining requirements. Keep the capstone to itself, and if needed, you can extend that one course. Do not switch, if you really want, you can ADD a BALS, but don't switch just because of 1 course. Again - I repeat - I wholeheartedly think staying the path is the best, and also the least resistance to getting your degree.
My last question and only question is: Do you have tuition assistance? Are you paying the Residency Waiver?

I assumed everyone would say "don't switch" but I still have Micro, Macro and Finance left (not just the capstone) and i have had a horrible time with all those classes. Please understand this is something i have thought about. if i don't switch i will simply not complete anything more.
I have no tuition assistance and i do have to pay the waiver.
And I did read what you wrote previously and that answer of yours was exactly what I knew you would say. So, in order to get those missing courses done faster, I mentioned the easiest options - SL/Davar. SL, you can finish the courses without doing too much work, it's all open book exams for the business courses, heck - if I can get it done in one day, you can get it done in one or two, up to three days each course from SL, it's all in the book/final exam!
In regards to Davar though, you will need to study a bit more for the presentation slides/packaged information they provide you, it's slightly harder, but again, you can get these done with the Business Class at $99/2 courses. A couple will be UL for the AOS, you can get one from SL (Cost Accounting) with minimal work, it's just the Capstone that will take "long". Now again, the capstone is going to be the harder one of all these courses, but a tad easier than a BALS Capstone
I am very bad with taking courses and I am a better text taker but I have extreme anxiety, anyways - I took mainly all of them from StraighterLine as it was all open book and I knew most of the material, I hit 90 credits in less than 3 months with SL alone, I had 104 credits from them after 3 months and if you add all the free credits - almost the entire degree. The AOS is where you may want to change it to a generic "GM" and finish it faster as doing SL Cost Accounting and a UL Davar course would be easier than the two Study.com you have.

It's still going to do that because all the business courses have no place else to go in a BALS. If you've gotta switch, then you've gotta, but you will be losing a bunch of credits. You should end up with almost all of the BALS AOS to do.

Email TESU and ask that they ADD the BALS to your evaluation (no need to remove the BSBA). Then you will have both the BSBA and the BALS official evaluation available to you; you can then make the best decision for you. They generally add the other degree evaluation within 2 business days.
I would also ask for a second degree evaluation, but don't formally change your degree option until you're sure. You could also play around with the what-if tools online first. Sometimes, I notice I can get undergraduate certificates with just one more course.
You're so close to finishing. I took microeconomics through OnlineDegree.com and would recommend it. It's very similar to the Saylor course, so you could use it to prepare for that in case you don't pass.
Even if you can do thirty minutes of study per day, you can still finish many courses.

So, there's some confusion between your 2 spreadsheets that I'll address first, as they are listed on the HR breakdown, but not on ACE as taken:
SL - Intro to Comm
Study.com - COMPSCI 105: Intro to Operating Systems
Study.com - BUS 104: Information Systems and Computer Applications seems to be listed on HR but not on ACE, but not quite sure
Study.com - COM 120: Presentation Skills in the Work Place
Org Behavior is showing on ACE as being completed at Study.com, but your HR doc says it's in progress at SL.
If you have NOT taken these, let me know, as it makes a difference.
And, some things look like maybe they were listed twice, double-check that.
So, you have a few options:
1) Do the BALS at TESU, as you are very close. If you have all of the courses you listed on your HR doc, I think you will need 1 GE, and 4 UL (Org Theory is UL, and PSY-360 so will work in BALS AOS). Also, I THINK (but am not certain) that Org Behavior counts as a GE course (PSYCH), but you need to figure that out, it's been a while since I've seen someone use it in the BALS and am not certain anymore if that works. If it does, then you don't need a GE.
2) Do the BALS at TESU, and add the Cert in Org Leadership (you have Management & Org Behavior, so you just need 4 courses) - this will add 4 courses to your BALS plan, but it will give you that "business" type of thing to put on your resume.
For either of these, I am not entirely certain TESU will let you keep your catalog, meaning they would add the new cornerstone to your courses, adding quite a bit of cost. That needs to be factored in.
3) Switch to COSC's BSLS degree, which will add onto what you need. Now, you'd need a lab to go with one of your sciences (Rio Salado has a nutrition lab for like $215 but it's supposed to be pretty easy; and Coopersmith has Enviro Science w/lab, you could contact them to ask about just doing the lab). And then you'd need 23cr of UL, you have 7cr as far as I can tell, without knowing what COSC will bring those in as for certain. I'm also not sure if the Insurance Ethics course will work for Ethics (not that I'm saying it doesn't, I really just don't know). My advice would be to take an UL Ethics course (Study.com, Davar, UExcel all have UL Business Ethics, Coopersmith has a 5cr UL Ethics in Comm exam), to get ethics covered, as well as UL and Liberal Arts. Then, decide on your major - with business being half of it. You have a bunch of business courses already, so then you get the remainder of your UL coursework in something like Comm or Psych, which has plenty of UL options. So Organizational Comm, Leadership Comm, Ethics Comm, some UL Leadership or HR courses, and you're good. Or several UL Psych courses to go with the business. Either way.
I can help you figure out which courses to use to go with any of the above options, to see which would cost the least. But you need to clean up your spreadsheets, and then contact TESU to ask about the catalog and Org Behavior. Then come back and post and let us know what you find out so we can help more.
