Need New Moderators
#1
If an admin or long-time moderator sees this, can we get an active moderator who will actually moderate and not just delete spam posts? Sadly, all the moderators who maintained a culture of civility got too busy with their personal lives and became inactive.

Perhaps provide examples? I haven't checked on the board in a couple of hours but I haven't otherwise seen anything uncivil in the last few days.

You participated in the mess last week instead of moderating the thread, so I had to put in a report that Shoto responded to.

Ah, I see. Those deleted posts were put in after I went to sleep. I can't be here 24 hours a day. Nobody can.

I took a 4 or 5 month break from the forum recently, and while part of that was because i was busy wrapping up my practicum at Georgia Tech, another large factor was how odd the "vibe" had gotten around here. It does seem more confrontational lately, and some of the guidance seems more suspect.

there's still a wealth of knowledge and reason to stick around, but it's not as enjoyable as it was when I started posting about 5 years ago. Back then it seemed more of a place where folks with shared goals went out of their way to help others. Now it's just a pissing contest.

I cannot see your base for your claim about the forum moderators.
The moderators seems more active than in other forums and do their work. I may add, they do it in a effective manner.

Personally, I've not seen any of the negative indications that the OP mentions. This board seems extremely well moderated, with lots of helpful info and little noise or spam.

The current divisive climate in the US makes it more challenging anywhere online. This place seems far less problematic than most.

Moderators are not paid. They have limited time they can be on the forum. They have lives outside of the forum.

if someone is going to post Their opinion on a debatable topic then get upset when they’re debated or disagreed with isnt very mature either. Everyone has their beliefs and opinions. If someone wants to express it than they should be open to debate without getting their feelings hurt. Provided it’s all clean , fun, and in good taste. Like the one moderator said “play nice”. But that doesn’t mean bow down and agree with the opinion of the post.
People are passionate about their beliefs. That’s a good thing, we’re all here because we have common goals and to learn from one another.
