My first DSST Exam - Here's to your health
#1
Hello!! I hope everyone is having a Happy Thanksgiving!

I am about to take my first credit by exam on Wednesday, DSST Here's to Your Health. I have not studied at all because I know a lot about health (at least I think). What I did do is took two of the Peterson's practice exams. I got 60 out of 100 questions correct on each practice test. Is this considered good? Can I pass the actual DSST exam when only getting 60% of the questions right? Of course, I'm going to do do a little more studying (like reviewing the answers I got wrong on Peterson's), Do you think I'll pass?

PS - I do not have an InstantCert membership yet.

Thanks for your help,

Leo

Good luck to you!! I am also studying for my first DSST/CLEP exam. Does anyone know if the Substance Abuse(DSST) or Human Growth and Development(CLEP) is easier? I was planning to take a Lifespan Development DSST exam but found IC does not have the study material for that one. The Human Growth and Dev material looks more like biology than psychology to me! Any advice?

I just did mine last week, only scored 418 of 400 and that is after studying about half the material on instantcert (i had thought, piece of cake). There will be alot of off the wall questions related to health that you may not even know or think they'd ask. Such as abortion terms and types, social security, and specific names for illnesses/diseases.

I would recommend at least studying here. I did a couple other practice tests but the instantcert one here was as close as it got. For $20 bucks, it was worth it for me.

Regardless, Good luck! It is the easiest of all the science ones, but like I said, there are some things that when you read them you will go "omg they are asking THIS?!"

Thank you guys! Does anyone else have anything to add? So, should I be okay to go ahead and test if I am getting 60-70/100 questions correct on the Petersons Exams?

It is one of the easier tests and the Peterson's tests are notoriously more difficult than the real tests so it sounds as though you'll pass.

That said, you are taking a big risk in your approach and depending on what future tests you are going to take, it will eventually catch up with you. Not trying to be a killjoy, we've just seen it too many times by members of this forum when they first start out. Good Luck just the same!

Hi Leo,

I just took the Here's To Your Health test on Tuesday using InstantCert. I studied hard for 5 days. I copied and pasted all the answers on word documents for each chapter and read them over and over and over. Then I tested my knowledge using the test on InstantCert. There are 95 questions on the DSST you have to score 400, I scored 426. I saved myself $1500 and a lot of time and obtained the 3 credits I needed for my Natural Science requirements. The $20 is worth it. Good luck.
