No call on the COO position for Homefront but the job had been posted for some time. Interestingly I passed a phone screen with my old company for a General Manager position close to home. Waiting to hear if I'll be called for an in person interview by the hiring manager.
More interesting...Amazon emailed me to schedule a phone interview for an Area Manager position. I didn't get a response prior to the bachelors degree and now I have an interview. Very cool. The position I really wanted to interview for was the Operations Manager position but those qualifications are listed as MBA preferred. Shows I really need the MBA. Good thing I'm starting WGUs MBA program on March 1.

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this). Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.
Rebel - Things like the ID, mug, sweatshirt with the logo are my way of making sure I stay on track. I hate to spend time or money, no matter how little, and not get my planned outcome. Having these things around will make me finish, even if things get tough.
Plus I love whipping out the student ID at the movies or Carvel. World's oldest college student right here - now make with the discount.

I think we may be close to the same age, and I use my TESC Student ID wherever I can!! If there's a student discount, I'm all over it!!

I never hesitate to use my TESC ID for a student discount. One of the bummers about GTech (if I get in) is that I don't get a student ID unless I make a trip to the campus.

I'm studying for my Amazon phone interview next week like it's a CBE. Right now I'm typing out answers to their sample interview questions. Studied the culture and read forum posts on what to expect.
At the same time I've put out feelers at my current position about the fact I am ambitious and interested in a more challenging role. In case they call me on it I'm prepared to tell them how my skills and background can bring value in a Continuous Improvement Manager role. It's not something this company has now, however their explosive growth has left them running full tilt to get the job done and not a lot of time to standardize processes or build in value to the flow. I could do this for them if they'd let me.

Aced the interview by getting the math problem right and answering all the recruiter's questions with a killer story that involved metrics, employee and customer satisfaction, productivity and prevailing against all odds with a cost negative solution. Almost geeked it up too much at the end by asking too many ops questions about Amazon but I realized what I was doing and ratcheted the nerdiness back.
She said they'll be contacting me about the on site interview event at my local Amazon DC as soon as it's scheduled.
Cool. Beans.
For my example - I used one of my pre-typed answers in the STAR format. I didn't read it exactly. But it helped keep me on track with what could have been a rambling story otherwise.
I need to change how I remember my examples so I can say on point in the on site.
