I've been playing the piano for 10 years. I love to sing and have had a little training from my mom. I also played the clarinet in band for three years and like to "play" the guitar, but I wouldn't say it's real music. hilarious

I used to play the Tenor Sax and Baritone Sax in Middle School and one year in High School. I chose Brass in the poll but I think they are in the Woodwind family if I remember correctly.

Piano is my main instrument. I've played it since I was six. So....that makes ten years for me. I love it, and am hoping to major/minor in piano.
Favorite composer : totally Chopin and Liszt (Especially his Hungarian Rhapsodies)

Amen. Chopin is such a joy to play! I should break out some Liszt... His Waltzes are display a side of his genius as pleasing as the Hungarian Rhapsodies. Ditto for the Transcendental Etudes, but I think those are a bit beyond my technique at the moment. Wink

Uhhhhh. Watching people play Guitar Hero makes me feel queezy. I'm like you: stick to the real thing.

Seeing my friends flail their plastic controllers up in the air to active the star power is about as much as I can take of that game. There are only so many times you can watch them fail at "Dragon Force - through the fires and flames" before you leave the "party".

I might not be awesome at guitar, but at least it's a better shot at getting me a date than playing guitar hero, I'm sorry but the game is not a woman magnet! Big Grin

Sounds pretty ridiculous when you come right down to it, doesn't it? There's no arguing that playing Guitar Hero does not make you a musician. It is my experience that GH kills what party may have been going on.

Well, I don't have much experience with GuitarHero... sounds like that's a good thing? Smile

I play piano... it's my stress relief when I need it. Will I be shunned if I say I don't particularly care for classical music? I don't mind playing it occasiionally, but generally I prefer something with words. I like hymns and some contemporary Christian music. Patriotic music is also fun to play.

I would love to play flute and/or violin, but my mom told me to master one instrument before moving on to another. I'm glad she said that, but as I haven't yet mastered piano, I may be awhile before getting to the others. Smile

Hi there, Brittany! I don't think you will be shunned for not liking to play classical music--I am kind of in the same boat with you there (for piano at least!) Smile I think it's because I hadn't played piano long enough to be proficient in the "really" classical pieces (concertos, etc) before I switched to violin, and then I was volunteered to play piano for my church, so now I mostly play hymns on the piano, which I really enjoy. I agree with your mom about mastering one instrument before starting another--sometimes I wish I had gone a little further on piano, but, oh well.....
