Hi All...
In light of the discussion regarding Torah College these past few days, I contacted Torah and promptly received an email answering all my questions.
For those interested - here's the info directly from the Torah College Advisor...
(My questions were specifically targeted to the UL course HIS-301 "Jewish Immigration and Settlement in the U.S.")
Is this course Pass/Fail?
Yes
If so, what is the percentage needed to pass?
70%
What is the format of the final exam? Is it a multiple choice exam, essay exam, fill-in-the blank, etc.
Evaluation: The examination will consist of 20 multiple choice questions (40% of total grade), 14 open ended answer questions, generally requiring answers of one to three sentences (42% of total grade), and 2 essay questions (one to three paragraphs) (18% of total grade). A final grade of 70% or higher will be considered a passing grade.
Are there any practice quizzes/study aids to assist in preparation for the final exam?
You can access study materials along with a video crash course from the History folder after logging in to your user account
Can the final exam be retaken?
Yes after 2 months
Is it necessary to have prior knowledge of Jewish history/culture to successfully complete this course?
No, everything you need to know is in the study materials
I will add that I received word from my EC Advisor that EC will indeed accept Torah College credits, so I can use this course to complete my UL depth requirement in history. After looking over the Civil War DSST yet again :ack:, I decided to order the HIS-301 text and check it out. Even though I'm a bit intimidated by the "essay" portion of the final, I'm most likely going give it a try...
