Master's from Coursera
#1
Hi all - I just got this in my email, so I haven't had a chance to read it.   But it sounds like you can get select degrees with Coursera.

https://www.coursera.org/degrees

I couldn't see at-a-glance how much these cost or whether the degree is actually from the university in question.

Thoughts?

They generally charge way too much. Some of them might be an ok price considering the quality of the school. But for example that Bachelors in CompSci would be over $23,000 for people in more developed countries.

3 of the 8 are only "coming soon".

Still, it's helping education head in the right direction.

$23k? That's a lot considering the way Coursera markets itself. But I do agree, it's a step in the right direction.

Personally I'm not liking that these schools send unrelated pitches. (Sometimes it seems too unrelated to the course I requested email updates for.)
