This is my final exam due to the fact that I failed Introduction to Computing.

What do you all think? Is it tough? I plan on using the flashcards and a couple of study guides. Is the content primarily computer-oriented? I ask with the hopes that this DSST may satisfy my computer knowledge prerequisite.

IMO it would be easier for you to continue to study (at the same level) and take the CLEP version of the exam, Information Systems and Computer Applications.

My school only accepts DSST exams. My mistake with the Introduction to Computing exam was by overstudying for a different topic and taking a DSST before it. I had a complete blank-out session lol

This exam assumes you know the Intro material, and is less about computers on the level of "this is a megabyte" and more on the level of how business uses computers to accomplish goals. Not to scare you -- MIS has a rep for being the easiest upper-level exam, as it is heavy on terms and knowing how the terms are used, but if you failed intro to computing I'd be careful in preparing for this one.

I recently took this exam and it seemed very heavy on database questions and about datamining. I never took intro to computing but i did take information systems and I thought it covered very different material.

You need to know what etl is for this exam. Lots of computer scientists don't know what etl is but definitely google it. Know the difference between gas, dss, eis and mis systems. Know ecommerce basics too.

I'm taking this test on Sat. Starting to get a little worried.
I took Intro to computing on the 20th. I found that test fairly straightforward and not too difficult.
I will let everyone know how it goes.

Ah yes, extract/transform/load. I remember that. It's used to build data warehouses. That can get ugly fast. banghead

I'm studying for this one as well. Can you (anyone who has taken it recently) tell me how it compares to the Peterson's practice tests? I took one of those after reading an MIS book and I didn't do that well on it. For most of the questions I was thinking did these people even read the same book I did?
