Sent from my phone using DegreeForum.net mobile app So I applied for a military/veteran program that they do yearly called SANS Vetsuccess Cyber Immersion Academy. The main requirement is being in the military or being a veteran. Paying for their courses/certs on your own is pretty expensive: like $6-8k each if you do the class, get the books and sit for the exam. Most people try to get their employer to pay for those classes. There's also the SANS Technology Institute which basically just combines their normal classes/certs into a degree. It ends up being cheaper that way and you don't technically have to finish the whole degree.

Long Overdue Update!
The end of my first term is here and I may not have accelerated my entire degree in 1 term but I'm still satisfied with my progress. I completed 6 courses in 2 weeks before slowing down. I started another program, had some health setbacks, and pursued other projects like an externship during this time which drew most of my focus away from WGU. One of the main benefits of CBE is being able to work ahead when you have the time and energy while being able to slow down when life picks up. I have no doubt that I could have finished it all in under a term if that was my only goal, but seeing as how I juggled a lot, my progress was still good enough. I completed Linux around halfway through my term and submitted my assignment for emerging technologies last night(passed this morning). It's funny because my mentor and instructor were both constantly contacting me, worried that I was struggling with the class and wouldn't finish it in time, but it honestly wasn't too difficult for me. I "started" it months ago but only began working on it a few days ago. I'm taking a 1-month term break to finish up some projects before diving into my last 5 WGU courses. My goal is to finish in December since that's what I've been telling employers is my graduation date.
Course List:
- Finite Mathematics – C277 (4)
- Ethics in Technology – C961 (3)
- Spreadsheets – C268 (3)
- Cloud Foundations – C849 (3)
- Critical Thinking and Logic – C168 (3)
- Information Systems Management – C724 (3)
- Linux Foundations – C851 (3)
- Emerging Technologies – C850 (2)
- Web Development Foundations – C779 (3)
- Web Development Applications – C777 (6)
- User Interface Design – C773 (4)
- Technical Communication – C768 (3)
- IT Capstone Written Project – C769 (4)

End of year update! So I'm down to my final capstone course. I thought I was going to spend this week knocking it out to finish this year but I'm not the fastest writer and I do still have 2 months on my term. I expect I'll finish a week or 2 into January. Anyways stand by for another major update next year where I'll reflect on the degree, offer some insights, and talk about what's next for me! Hope everyone has a great New Year's!
