MAT 101 Basic Statistics ?

Has anyone taken this course? what was it like, and how was the final?

I had originally planned taking it on Sophia as math is not my strong suit, however the Master Program I am looking to enroll in requires a course in Statistics with a B or higher, and will not accept Sophia, so I plan on taking it at UMPI.

i don't think anyone on here has taken stats at UMPI as we all took it on Sophia or elsewhere. I took a stats class in person years ago and it was far more difficult than Sophia. If math is something you struggle with, maybe take it in person at a local community college?

Unlikely since they are not accepting Sophia, but you might want to ask if they will accept one of the following options:

ALEKS
Coopersmith
Saylor
Straighterline

(worth asking and you can promote they provide a % grade)


ALEKS is a nice option to grow your skills in math. My siblings and I completed all of the math courses with ALEKS in a month, and each of us felt like it was a decent resource. Once you get a handle on math, it is not nearly as scary as some make it out to be. Of course, I understand that some just tend to struggle more with math than others, but life is a lot easier once you get a handle on math so still with it.

If you need one single RA course, SNHU may be an option. Their courses are $960, and the grading is heavily weighted towards the students so there is less risk of running into a high DFW course. One course lasts 2 months.
