MA Counseling - $400/mo (Christian university)
#1
Kairos University has possibly one of the cheapest options for getting this degree: https://kairos.edu/academics/programs/ma...ounseling/

At $400/mo, if you can finish in 2 years, then your total cost is under $10k. Not everyone is going to be comfortable with attending a faith-based university, but this looks like a pretty solid option for those who want this kind of degree.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

People would be advised to check on whether this specific program will allow them to obtain licensure where they live.

"Prepares students to pursue licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, and North Dakota. Students may also be eligible in other states that allow for “equivalent coursework.” "

My concern would be that I couldn't find any indication that the program has CACREP accreditation. While not required in many states, CACREP has been growing exponentially and an increasing number of states will not recognize or license individuals with degrees that aren't CACREP accredited.

Also, since the MSW degree has a wider scope of practice in almost all states, and covers almost all of the same material as the MFT and LPC degrees do, I would advise someone considering the LPC/MFT option to at least explore the MSW before deciding.

Kairos appears to not hold CACREP for their master's in counseling, but does hold COAMFTE for their master's in marriage and family therapy.
