Due to an unexpected career opportunity, I'm looking for an additional Master degree. I need it all online, no campus visits, asynchronous if possible. Don't think there is a CBE option but not opposed to it. School needs to be RA but will think about NA options if you find them super cheap.

What kind of degree do you want?: Master in English or Composition
Current Regional Accredited Credits: N/A - won't be transferring credit
Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits:N/A - won't be transferring credit
Any certifications or military experience?:N/A - won't be transferring credit
Budget: preferably under 12k.
Commitments: some, but I've been dual degree'ing it for three years now while working fulltime so I got this.
Dedicated time to study:as much as needed.
Timeline: doesn't matter
Tuition assistance/reimbursement: No

MASS - GSU - May 2025
MLM - Elmwood Inst./Patten University - May 2025

Check out
ACE MEd in English Education
WNMU MAIS, with concentrations including English and Writing
GetEducated's lists by price for master's in English, Writing and Liberal Arts.
Is it possible 18 graduate semester hours in English possibly in a graduate certificate, plus your existing MA in Social Science, could suffice? ACE and WNMU have such certificates.

This is absolutely a possibility! 18 credit hour certificates are hard to find though (I keep finding 12-15 hour ones) So thank you!! I will look into this.

You might also double check whether they'd accept
- a graduate certificate of less than 18 credit hours
- plus additional, non-duplicative coursework outside the graduate certificate to total 18 graduate credit hours.

I have reached out to Western New Mexico, Witchita State, ACE, and Fort Hays State as those three seem affordable with programs that are in line with what I'm looking for. Thanks for the advice!

A few days ago, I was thinking about making a thread on universities that market 18-credit graduate certificates to those who want to teach at community colleges. East Texas A&M and Angelo State University are examples of schools that do this.

And just like that, I'm not doing this Master. Murray State University has a doctorate that isn't that much more so rather than do another master before a doctorate, I'm going to just bite the bullet and go into a doctorate program instead. Already in talks with the program head there on getting in ASAP after my degree confers.
I appreciate the help here, I found Murray State in a list that was given on English programs online.

Yes there are four concentrations: English and Rhetoric, Literacy, Writing, or English Literature. I'd be doing the English Literature to transition from English Grammar and Composition I'm currently doing to English Literature. It should work out well.
I deeply appreciate everyone's help, yet again, steering me toward options.
