Liberty University?
#1
Hi.

So I've written out my plan for liberty university to get a psychology degree with a focus in substance abuse counseling.

They recently noted that take credits from Excelsior College.

Could I do all my general courses there using their tests system along with things like salyor.org or torcollegecredit? And then just transfer over once all done?

I'm trying to get this degree as quickly as possible ; like 3 years max.

I'm thinking if I enroll in Excelsior as well as Liberty ; I can take the degree specific courses from Liberty and the general ed courses from Excelsior. That would save me some money right?

I have a fear that I won't do well on more than 2 CLEP tests so I'm trying to find self paced courses instead.

Does this sound workable?

What's the price difference between excelsior and liberty courses that you would want to substitute them? Doesn't make sense to me unless you mean the exams.
CLEPS Passed: 10 DSST Passed: 11 TECEPS: 1

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

I'm referring to the self paced courses.

The cost per credit at Liberty ($375) is lower than Excelsior ($490)

I'm interested in taking the self paced courses that Excelsior allows people to take. Like the ones I mentioned above.

I don't know if they still do, but Excelsior used to have this thing called "credit bank"

so you didn't enroll at Excelsior, but you paid them to "bank" your credits

so you would have all your CLEP and DSST exams sent to Excelsior along with any ACE credits or any other credits
then Excelsior would transcribe them all and send them to whatever university you eventually decided to attend

If you really do go to Liberty, you don't need to credit bank at Excelsior. Liberty accepts CLEP and DSST.

75 CLEP U.S. History II
63 CLEP College Algebra
70 CLEP Analyzing and Interpreting Literature
68 DSST Technical Writing
72 CLEP U.S. History I
77 CLEP College Mathematics
470 DSST Statistics
53 CLEP College Composition
73 CLEP Biology
54 CLEP Chemistry
77 CLEP Information Systems and Computer Applications

CLEP and DSST are tests correct?

I'm looking for self paced courses that I can place onto my transcript.

I know I can't do well on more than 2 clep test so I want to avoid as many as possible.

It looks like they will accept ACE and NCCRS recommended courses as well as CLEP/DSST/UExcel exams. And they have their own exams.

I would check with them for the following (online courses NOT from an accredited college, BUT ACE or NCCRS approved):
ALEKS.com (math)
saylor.org
edX: Global Freshman Academy
Straighterline
JumpCourse
Study.com
DreamDegree.com/LowCostGenEd.com (not sure how that is working at this point)
Ed4Credit.com
Sophia.com
propero.org
CollegePlus.org (the courses)
TorCollegeCredits.com

And the following have some of the lower-priced self-paced college courses you can take:
University of Idaho IS
University of Arkansas SP
CSU-Pueblo IS
BYU IS
LSU Distance Learning
TESU BSBA/HR 2018 - WVNCC BOG AAS 2017 - GGU Cert in Mgmt 2000
EXAMS: TECEP Tech Wrtg, Comp II, LA Math, PR, Computers  DSST Computers, Pers Fin  CLEP Mgmt, Mktg
COURSES: TESU Capstone  Study.com Pers Fin, Microecon, Stats  Ed4Credit Acct 2  PF Fin Mgmt  ALEKS Int & Coll Alg  Sophia Proj Mgmt The Institutes - Ins Ethics  Kaplan PLA

See if University of Idaho independent studies offer what you need. At only $100/credit and self paced that might be right for you.Psychology-Independent Study in Idaho-University of Idaho
MBA, Western Governors University February 2014
BS Charter Oak State College November 2011
AS in EMS August 2010

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

My son is looking at Liberty as well, so I am very familiar with their policies. Is it possible that you are thinking of Straighterline and not Exselsior? They are a partner school for Straighterline and Straighterline offers self paced courses at a lower cost than at Liberty. My son is hoping to take several general education classes at Straighterline before he enrolls at Liberty.

I see that you addressed this above. Liberty will also allow it's students to take classes from other schools with permission, so I would advise you to just apply to Liberty and work out your degree plan with your advisor and take what you need at Excelsior. I don't think it is necessary to be a student at both schools.
