Let myself fall way behind...

If you only have to take one and can even fail it, I would sign up for anything and possibly throw away the cost of the test just to make sure no new courses were going to be added to my degree plan.

just my 2 cents though

I've personally failed and dropped TECEPs and have noticed my enrollment has still been extended, so I'm thinking you may not need to pass.
As long as you've registered for a TECEP, I'm guessing that's the key.
It seems the 10th day of the term in which your registered TECEP starts, appears to be the important day
Obviously get it in writing first.
I presume you're on the "per credit" plan ?

So you went more than a year since the last TECEP or course at TESU and you're still enrolled? It specifically says on the website you have to pass a TECEP, unless you're military.

I went more than a year, and it kicked me out, and I had to reapply.

If you went more than a year, that's different, you'd have to reapply after the 30 day grace period.
The per credit plan requires you to "enroll in a course or exam to extend active enrollment".
I've never gone more than a year before enrolling on a TECEP.
My enrollment date simply restarts on the 10th day, of the term in which I'm enrolled in a TECEP.
This is whether I go on to take it, drop it, pass it or fail it.

Where does it say you have to pass?

Yes I'm on the military plan, but I cannot see the statement "you have to pass" on this page Thomas Edison State University | Per Credit Tuition Plan

You're the one that said "I've personally failed and dropped TECEPs and have noticed my enrollment has still been extended, so I'm thinking you may not need to pass." I was just asking if you went more than a year between TECEP's, and you're still active and under the catalog you applied under?

I can't find where I read it, but I did read that just enrolling in a TECEP as a non-military student doesn't extend your enrollment, you have to pass one. Their website isn't always the easiest to navigate and find info.

The per credit tuition plan and maybe military plan used to require that you earn at least 3 credits from TESU per 12 month period. Though the policies change from time to time. It looks like they may have made changes to the contractual programs, not sure about the per credit tuition plan.

Then that's been changed, as the link I posted simply says you only need to enroll to extend. The link is the civillian link, not the military one.
"enrolled in course or exam that will extend their active enrollment under one of the University's per credit tuition plans"

I was only stating my own experience, in as much that I've failed and dropped TECEPS and yet my enrollment has still been extended.
Currently the key is to just enroll in a TECEP at least once per year

This seems positive news all round Smile ... let's hope it doesn't change

@hightecrebel ... do check your enrollment date and see if it changes on the 10th/11th day of the term your TECEP starts Smile
