Just submitted my last final with UMPI!
#1
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who answered my questions and recommended UMPI. This forum was crucial for me to contribute to one of my most significant accomplishments to date. I was able to complete 11 courses with UMPI in one session and am currently rounding out my degree with two courses from Study.com and one CLEP.

Completing this many courses in one session was difficult but has saved so much time and money that it is all worth it. My only regret is that I probably could have finished 13 if I had been a bit more judicious with my time but regardless, I'm very close now and should be finished within a couple weeks at study.com.

You guys rock and a special shoutout to Jessica and Cody!

Some stats about my time for those interested...

I transferred in with all my gen-ed credits accomplished because I had a bachelor's degree already, and 6 courses from the BABA core/Management tracks I had completed through CLEPs or training I received at my job.

Courses I completed (in order):
BUS 200: Intermediate Business Computing (probably spent too much time on this one, but it was a fun one so I got carried away making my project)
BUS 220: Managerial Accounting
BUS 240: Change Management
BUS 244: Management Info Systems
BUS 321: Human Resource Management (probably the course I knew the least about going into, but also very interesting)
BUS 415: Operations Management (this one was pretty tough, but it was very informative and enjoyable)
BUS 469: Strategic Professional Communication (My favorite course of them all, very fun final project)
BUS 325: Financial Management (incredibly long)
BUS 353: Legal/Ethical Environment of Business
BUS 440: Business Analytics
BUS 489: Business Policy and Strategy (Probably the most difficult course I completed, this topic was quite foreign to me. I actually started it BEFORE BUS 325 but it was my last course completed)

My course order changed several times from what I projected for myself, but was necessary as I had to travel  during the session and was able to read through quite a lot of course material while traveling by copying it into a word document when I had internet access. I recorded my responses to milestones, journal entries, and discussion posts on an ipad, then uploaded them when I had internet access again. Because of this, several of my classes look like I might have already known the material already just based on how much time they showed on my "pace and progress" tab, but almost everything except change management was new to me.

My average completion time according to the pace and progress tab is somewhere between 9-11 hours, although realistically counting writing the projects, papers, and reviewing material offline, I would say it was more like 25 hours per course. A few outliers took me upwards of 30 hours to complete. All in all, I am quite proud of the projects I put together and all I've learned in such a short time. I'm also thankful to have such a supportive wife who has kept me motivated and focused on my goals.

The overall goal of getting a second degree for me is that I am trying to become a pilot with the USAF and my GPA from my previous degree is not competitive (or relevant to managing people/organizations). With this new degree, I've put together the final piece to my puzzle and stand a much better chance of being selected. I'll be sure to update you guys when I hear back from the commissioning board!

Big congrats!

Posts like this are inspiring! I'm about to start at UMPI in a similar boat, wanting to knock out 11 courses in 8 weeks and to see others do it makes it feel all the more achievable. Best of luck with pilot program!

Congratulations! The journal entries and discussions are optional. Seems weird they are even there since so few people have done them and there's never responses. I dreaded BUS469 because the Final Assessment sounded awful - writing an employee communications handbook.....doesn't sound fun. But it was actually a fun project! I liked how we worked on it with the Milestones throughout the course so you weren't totally starting from scratch. That was one of my favorite Final Assessments. It was definitely the most fun.

Great post! Congrats, just wondering why 11 and not transfer in one more? I would try transferring the max, but of course if that course will cost more than the session, then stay your current course. If you can manage the commitments, time, etc, it should be doable. Good luck with your current and future goals, have fun!

Sorry, the format of my post is a bit confusing, I transferred in 6 courses plus my Gen-ed requirements prior to starting at UMPI and I completed 11 courses with UMPI. I have three courses left to finish, two with study.com and one with a CLEP.

You need to get these all transferred in before the session ends!
