Just finished Straighterlines United States History

Sorry for the late replies, I have been out of the country on vacation.

Yes I agree with Rebel and Ryoder, do yourself a favor and buy the book. I bought the specific textbook for this course which is ( Brinkley, Alan. The Unfinished Nation: A Concise History of the American People, Volume I, 5th edition, McGraw-Hill, 2004. ISBN: 9780073513232) You can find it fairly cheap on Ebay or Amazon. The textbook will have majority of the answers throughout the text provided. I advise you before each test, notice what the topic of the test is OR what the chapters that you will be tested on. Example.. Chapters 1-6. Skim and read through Chapter's one through six before you take the test. Than you should be ready. Like I said.. I know my history like I know the back of my hand, so I was aware of most the questions the course had, and I passed it with a breeze. If you take the chance to skim/read the chapters before you take the quiz, 99% you will pass.

Some Straighterline courses I did not use the specific books that is required for the courses and some courses I actually did buy the required book. My brother had some community college books laying around that I used with a few other Straighterline courses to learn specific definitions and other meanings in the other courses. I had trouble with the science courses at Straighterline. I purchased them with no book, like General Chemistry I. I barely passed and it took time and dedication to pass that course without a book. All my science courses I passed on a score that was needed to get ACE to approve the course. I learned the hard way, but I did pass...

Very good course. I was anticipating this course for a few months, they released it about two or three days ago. Finished in two days. It's 6 exams with a mid-term and final. Exams have about 40 questions a piece in them and midterm and final 80. I suggest you get the book, however some of these questions we're a breeze if you know your History well. If you have any questions on any Straighterline course you can ask me I took majority of them.

I'm starting this month to take american govt and both U.S. history and world civilization 1 course. I need a 70% in each class for credit. Do you think I can skim the book and be fine? Can you look up most the answers if need be or is that too difficult?

My wife just started US History and did poorly on the first quiz. She read the material but didn't spend enough time on it. From what she says, skimming might not work for everyone. Test banks often have questions that can only be answered after reading the textbook. One example I like to share is a question from a Cengage test bank for an computer course. The question asked....

You should always greet the customer with
a. A handshake
b. A smile
c. Something I can't remember
d. Something else I can't remember

This is just a long-winded way of saying, "read the book."

I am planning to take History of the United States II with straighter line what do you suggest me to do? I am not good with history and it is not my topic because im a science major and never liked history and just need that class as perquisite.

I recently completed the West. Civ. I class. I suggest you read the book, but you don't need to study it. With SL tests, some questions have straightforward answers or you can do an easy search and find the answer. However, some of the others you have to dig for and you need to know where to dig for it. You could probably just skim and get a 70%, but I was trying to do better than achieve a 70% and want to learn something from this experience. Hope that helps you somewhat. Good luck!

U.S. History 2 should be easy than a traditional class for you. You just read the chapters and take the quizzes. The questions come directly from the textbook.

I took SL U.S. History 1 and I think I finished it in about a week. Maybe it was 10 days, I'm not sure. It depends on how much time you have.

Read the textbook because the test questions come directly from it. For me that was the most helpful tip.
