Journey Thread -- BS Cybersecurity
#11
Since Hodges killed their UPower program, I'm going with WGU. I've sent them my CLEP, ACE, CompTIA, ISC2 and B&M transcripts. Holding off on DSST transcript until I take MIS. Hoping to start 6/1, but Pierpont conferral isn't until 5/12, and I have to send the transcripts after conferral happens. If I have to wait until 7/1, I can live with that. Going to try to knock it out in one semester. Taking the CISA (13 credits) 4/16 (and sending transcripts when I'm certified). May also attempt the 4 MTA exams that count towards the degree between 4/16 and 6/1.

Got a preliminary pass on the CISA this morning. I have to wait for ISACA to officially grade it, then show my relevant work experience. I should have the official designation in about 6 weeks. 13 credit hours down for WGU :-) .

Got my official score for the CISA. The scoring is weird. 200 is the minimum you can get, 800 is the max. 450 is passing. I cut a 614.

Next is putting together my work and other experience into a package to send to ISACA (5 years infosec/audit experience required) . The BOG AAS actually knocked a year off the experience requirement. Another year was eliminated with general IT experience. The final 3 years have to be signed off by current or former coworkers or supervisors. Fortunately, 2 years got signed off this evening at our local OWASP meeting (2 former coworkers from 2 different jobs showed up). The final year will be signed off by my boss this week.

I'm looking forward to sending this package off and sending the CISA cert to WGU when ISACA approves it. One more step towards the bachelors.

I got an eval from WGU last week....For the BSNOS. I had asked them to change my major back in March to BSCSIA and they didn't do it. That finally happened this week. The other eval had me at 45 credits though, and that's before the CISA (13) and the MTA exams I'll be taking next month (12 if I pass all 4)....so 70 hours going in? Not too shabby.
