International High School Equivalency for UMPI Application
#1
Having finished all the transfer credits (93), I am finally ready to apply to UMPI. Link to my Degree Plan.
I have just now filled the form and I expect to be contacted soon.

As an international student based in Italy, I have two questions:

1. Do I need a US phone number? Can everything be done by email?

2. To get my High School Diploma evaluated by WES (Document-by-Document Evaluation), should I buy WES ICAP or is the WES Basic package enough?
Alternatively, since it now seems that UMPI accepts other equivalency providers, is there a better deal?

Thank you.

1) You provide them everything they need, it doesn't have to be a US phone number, it should be a number they can reach you at, such as your personal cell phone or home phone number, plus email address.

2) It really doesn't matter, the high school diploma doesn't transfer, they just need to know you have a high school diploma completed. Check pricing and compare which one you would like to use for NACES members.

Answering your second question, I did not need a high school diploma when I enrolled in UMPI. If I remember correctly, if you have more than 60 credits you are good to go, no high school diploma is required.

Technically, if you want to bypass the high school diploma, it is the associates degree, once you hold that, they don't really need it. I think if you have more than the minimum requirements, they'll bypass the language requirements too, so for instance you have an associates, with a lab science, and a language as part of the degree, you're good to go in all fronts.

An associate degree does not waive any of the GEC requirements. I have an AAS and AS and was still required to complete all of the GEC. If you transfer in a language course, then you're transferring in credit and it's not being waived because of a degree. Just having an associate degree does not waive any requirements for the degree. If someone has a bachelor's degree and are completing a second or third bachelor's degree, then they will be waived from the GEC.
