"The planet is about 1,500 light-years from Earth."

You know, if we could travel faster than the speed of light, then it would literally be like time traveling, since you could, with a super powerful telescope, look back at Earth and its people and see what life was like 1500 years ago.

If you are looking at something on Earth around 3 miles away, you are seeing what happened in the past 0.0161 milliseconds ago.

If you are a gamer, you know it takes around 1/10 of a second for the speed of light to travel from point to point (not a straight line) from one PC to another 1/2 way around the world. So if you are shooting at someone, you are often shooting at someone who could be quick enough to react to your movement, so in effect, you are shooting at someone who isn't there anymore.

By the time you get to Mars, it would take light 12.51 seconds to travel.
