I was on a celebrity gossip site and came across an entry on a former ITT Tech Student. She graduated in 2005 with an associate's in web development and 2007 with a bachelor's in information security and starred in several commercials from 2008 to 2011. By 2012, she was working in the adult film industry. I won't link to the article with video evidence because it's inappropriate. Even though you don't normally expect someone with a computer-related degree to become that desperate, to be fair, I'm sure there are people in this industry who attended better colleges. I just thought this story was interesting considering the news surrounding ITT Tech's closure. I suspect that she was living off of her salary from being in these commercials. When the commercial gigs stopped, she had to find another source of income.

Maybe she just really enjoyed performing for the camera. LOL Spokane students left hanging after ITT Tech closure | The Spokesman-Review Read that article this weekend and its crazy how much these students spent on their education for a 2 yr degree, we are talking north of 50K! That is so unrealistic that the government should put caps on tuition rates for profit colleges. It just doesn't make sense how and why anyone in their right mind would so willingly go into that sort of debt for a degree for a college like ITT Tech.

They simply do not know. Many of these people come from backgrounds where college is not the "norm", not to mention financial awareness.
When you combine the lack of knowledge and prior experience with criminal (yes, criminal) exploitation of these realities, you get results like $50,000 for a two year degree.

I agree that lot of people that go to these schools have a "suspect" background. But you can't fix stupidity. Especially when you factor in how much cheaper a community college is over for profit almost 99.9% of the time.
Financial awareness is one thing. Financial stupidity is a whole nother animal.

I didn't say "suspect". These are people. They have a "different" background than some of us do, they are not "aliens". They do not know what they do not know. These people are not "stupid" (As a group), they simply * do not know*.
I could call people "stupid" for getting degrees just to get a "job", vs opening up their own business. I point out that it is generally better to own and control a resource than to "borrow" it in terms of profit, but when I tell folks that, they generally look at me like I'm an alien. I don't call them "stupid" though. I simply understand that they are " unaware" of any other way to live. Our entire system of a country is designed to raise up "inputs" to our economy. Employee inputs. Non owners. Even the budding Entrepreneurial Ecosystem/Industry is designed to reduce Entrepreneur *ownership* stake as much as possible, and increase the likelihood to sell a profitable venture to a "Big Firm" who can no longer organically grow efficiently. Sure, you get a big pay out, but you no longer own or control the asset.
Bottom line, there is no need for elitism on a forum based around education and learning. We are here to grow, not put down others.

If anyone is curious and wants to investigate, Google "ITT Tech mediatakeout". You'll find the video in the first link.

My eyes cannot unsee this. Curiosity got the best of me. Let's just say she probably should stick to web development.

A large percentage of the women in the sex trades are desperate and are usually exploited or manipulated. It is real easy to judge someone until you walked in their shoes. It is sad this forum is going this route.

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.
Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.
Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.
Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.
Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

I don't know who you're talking about, but I didn't pass any judgement. I just reported her job. If you talk to Steve Foerster on the other forum, his position is that people are making assumptions about her being desperate because some people willingly choose and enjoy this work. This could have been something she really wanted to do; she could have been desperate. In my opinion, her story points to her being desperate, but I could be wrong.

WoW. You really took that personal to an effect.
I'm not putting down anyone on this forum, what I'm explaining to you is why go to a for profit vs. community college, if it is cheaper?
Your response is because they don't know better? Well why is that? Don't they know how to question the schools program and credentials and accreditation and teaching for that matter?
I totally feel you misconstrued my post which is fine everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
What I stated is like the people in that article in the spokane review, why did they WILLINGLY CHOOSE to go into DEBT. Cause they didn't have a higher intelligence? That's total B.S. Your response is cause they weren't aware? So they didn't know a college across town had the same programs for 70% less with better QUALITY teaching? Huh?
