InstantCert Credit courses
#1
My dd wants to share this:

Hello, I just want to share my experience with InstantCert Credit.  I took American Government, Environmental Sciences, and Astronomy.  I'm planning on using these for my general ed, either TESU or Excelsior.  In my opinion the classes were challenging.  But I expect that for a college-material class, since I am only a home-schooled high school student.  I took only one course at a time, it took me about a week to get it done.  The quizzes were easy.  The exams were challenging.  I wish I would have been able to see what questions I did wrong in the exams.  My overall experience was okay.

I’m about 98% complete with Astronomy and the course has been a little difficult. There are grammatical errors on some of the questions and the answers don’t always match what you have studied in the lessons, but all-in-all it’s been a fairly good course.

Oh, the exams don't show wrong answers? For the Introduction to Financial Accounting course's first exam, most of the questions were largely similar to previous study questions, but if it's true that incorrectly answering things doesn't provide any reasoning why like the study questions do, that seems like a missed learning opportunity.

It’s true that they don’t show you what you missed out on, so it’s hard to figure out what you did and didn’t do incorrectly.

I took American Government yesterday, and I agree that exams are challenging, especially when compared with the quizzes. The flashcards are very helpful, yet I the book suggested in the course syllabus is a mandatory resource in order to pass the exam.
I would like to thank Steven from InstantCert support, who managed promptly and effectively an issue that occurred during my mid-term exam.

Thanks InstantCert!!

Doom,

Your suggesting that picking up the Textbook from the Syllabus is worth it for the InstantCert Credit course? Any suggestions on the lowest place to get one?

Thanks!

Yes, definitely. Although the flashcards are helpful, they do not cover all the questions in the exams. Please consider also that American Government was a pretty new subject for me (I'm not American), so getting the book was the minimum I could do.

Feel free to PM me and I will be more than happy to give you further info if you need it.

Hi Doom, I 100% agree with the need for the Textbook. It fleshed out alot of the sections that the overview modules did not cover. I completed the course last week with a final grade of 92%. Have you had any success in getting it transferred to one of the big 3? I am waiting to hear back from my adviser on how it will be applied. I am also 60% through Financial Accounting at InstantCert Credit and I am sort of regretting it. The modules are short but the quiz portions are very, very hard. While they show you the mistakes, the modules don't do a great job of teaching you the underlying reasons for how things are applied in specific ways. I have had to augment my work through Youtube videos. I'm taking Managerial Accounting at Straighterline next and I am hopeful that it will be a smoother process. I have already put 30-35 hours into this Accounting class and I am ready to move on. Its a beast.

Hello Robot,
thanks for the info you shared. Unfortunately I haven't applied to any of the Big3 yet, I'm in the phase of just building up some credits. As user bjcheung77 wrote in post https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...#pid302558, InstantCert courses are listed on the TESU approved provider directory (https://www.tesu.edu/academics/catalog/p...-directory), so they are supposed to transfer in.

I just passed Finance Accounting from InstantCert Credit. This was a hard course compared to their American Government course. Still I managed a 864/1000 final score. I’m transferring this over to TESU as part of my degree completion. I’m intending to do their Environmental Science and Astronomy next. All in all, I recommend them, but know that this course is not an easy pass.
