Hi, guys.
I have a few questions I want to ask regarding Instant Cert.
- Is Instant Cert worth the money? I plan on doing a few DSST's examinations this summer and heard that IC is the best resource for studying. I know there is a lot of study material on the internet which is free, but is IC overall better and more detailed then the rest?
- Does your subscription continue until you cancel it?
Thanks in advance!

I have never used InstantCert since I did not need to take DSST or CLEP. That said, I have heard and read from many that InstantCert was worth the money. Many Degreeforum members have posted reviews in which they claimed they found IC useful. I think I read a few comments where some claimed it was not worth the money... Since everyone is different, I don't expect everyone to give positive or negative remarks about the same thing...

I found IC flashcards extremely useful. But it is the specific exam feedback area, which you will have access to upon membership, that is worth price of admission! Word of warning: do not try to just memorize the flashcards, digest and comprehend the material including the explanations.
My advice, use as many forms of study as needed.
- If you are already knowledgeable in a subject flashcards and exam feedback should be enough, combined with practice tests. Take advantage of free practice tests: peterson's and free clep prep website.
- But if the material is new to you, I would complement IC with subject text, companion websites, educational videos, sparknotes, rea or other study guides (see exam feedback and free clep prep), practice tests, quizlet, etc.
Yes, you must cancel your subscription. Seek out the instructions prior because, at least in my case, it wasn't easy to find.
Good luck on your exams!

I joined Instant cert about 2 months ago and I think it is well worth it. For 20 bucks a month you get access to the exam feedback. It has helped me focus on what is on the recent exams and it gives great clues on what to focus on. Also, since you will be paying for it, that is a great motivator to get done as fast as you can. Its a lot better then just the DSST guide book. Just my two cents. Good luck with your exams!

It's been worth it for me for the feedback forum alone (don't forget the attachments users will have; this helped make up for the fact that DSST exams do not have an equivalent study exam book the way CLEP had here on my base, including me having to take out a textbook just to gloss over Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management).

It depends, The resources for DSST are scarcer online than information for CLEP which has vast amounts of free information online. I think that the value Instantcert provides is that it is a great way to grasp the broadness of the subject matter. I usually use it with other resources as I tend to learn better that way. The great resource is the exam specific feedback which details what you should most certainly know from a recent exam takers experience. I've used it for one test so far, U.S History 1 I will be using it for U.S History II as it contains much more information than some other sites. These aren't DSST of course and I haven't looked at them for that yet. Just finishing up some online courses at EC this week and then full steam ahead nextweek and I wouldn't attempt it without the instantcert materials. You can cancel at any time, I've cancelled at least twice and they do a great job of responding to my cancellation request. One key element is that some people think that the filling in the blanks part "isn't working" for them when the learning process is not about your flashcard score but you absorbing the surrounding information as you click through the flashcards. Let us know your experience.

I think its definitely worth it. I've earned 15 credits by exam in the last 9 weeks, three of which were DSST's. Even just purchasing the CLEP books would have cost me just as much and only covered two exams.
With intantcert I don't have to loose time reading through wordy textbooks. Instead I can structure my time around comprehending the flashcards. Also the forum feedback available for members is is extremely helpful for the harder exams.
The only other thing I have done consistently in addition to IC and read the study tips on the forum, is I always take the free practice exams at free-clep-prep.com for the subjects offered.
I've also used another paid exam prep online flashcard site, but I feel instant cert product is better and offers more subjects.

I always purchase one of the recommended textbooks (used for about $5) to study for a given exam, but instacert is a great secondary resource to make sure you are retaining the information. If you try to use Instacert as your only study resource, I believe you will be disappointed.
I have kept an active instacert account and will do so until my wife and I are finished with exams. We find value in the resource and the community.
