Hello everyone,
I am getting close to the completion of my Bachelor's degree so I have been considering the next step. Because I am in a technology field, a Master's degree is unnecessary and might even be harmful in some situations. Instead, I have been considering a post-baccalaureate certificate in information technology, programming, networking, etc.
The purpose of this thread is to compile a list of affordable certificate programs available online. I am capable of using Google, but several researchers are far better than one.
UC Berkely Extension offers a certificate in Information Systems and Management that requires 10 semester credits at approximately $300 - $350 per credit.

TESC has a selection of them mainly in fields like national security and management:

Public Service Leadership
They've also got a large selection of non-credit stuff. Some like their behavioral and mental health ones can be used to meet CEU requirements if you're an LPC, LMFT, or other licensee.
North Dakota State University also offers some aging-related mental health noncredits which also count in some cases for CEUs. I took the Alzheimer's one and I learned a lot from it.

Fort Hays probably has some of the cheapest options. In-state public schools might also be cheap.

Not sure why you say a Masters may be harmful...I assume you're hands on in the tech field like admin, engineer, programmer, etc.....if that's the case consider an industry cert for a boost (i.e. PMP, ITIL, Microsoft, Six Sig, etc)...just a thought because depending on your in 1 to 3 years it may give you more bang for your time and buck.

When I posted the original post, I was thinking about continuing in Electrical/Electronics Technology. Without an engineering degree in my field, a masters would be seen as a waste of time and effort. It would also tend to label someone as not wanting to get their hands dirty. After spending some time reviewing my options, I think I am going to shift gears once again and continue adding graded credits to my transcript so I can get into a Master's program at Fort Hays. Give me a couple of weeks and it may change again.
