I've taken and passed the Praxis exams for K-5 Elementary Education, Middle School Math, Middle School Language Arts, Middle School Social Studies, Middle School Science, General Science, Social Studies K-12, English K-12, and Comprehensive Business. Certificates for K-8 Supplemental instruction in Reading and Math uses the same Praxis as K-5 Elementary and Psychology K-12 doesn't require one. I'm alternate route Special Ed and may add ESL if necessary.
I need nine more upper level credits in English to be certified in English K-12.
I need to pass the High School Math Praxis exam and earn 9 more upper level credits in Math to get certified in Mathematics K-12.
Since I've already passed the General Science Praxis, I just need to pass the Biology Praxis and earn 27 credits to get my Biology K-12 certificate. I hope that by taking and passing the GRE in Bio this spring, Charter Oak will give me 24 credits toward that in one day.
There is always Physics I guess if nothing pans out. Montclair State graduated roughly 2,000 education majors in the last couple of years and only 1 Physics education major. I wonder if I will be the most certified(or maybe certifiable teacher in NJ.
What content areas is your friend certified in? Usually Special Ed + Math and/or science is the ticket...
