I Missed the Deadline to Turn in My Final!

Wow! Are you sure you're younger than 30? You may just be my VERY late (like 20+ years) born twin. What is it with our all or nothing mentality? It's self-destructive in a major way.

There are lots of things we can learn from your posting. The obvious, be very careful about deadlines. The less obvious, don't WAIT until the deadline to submit. Everything from overtime, death in the family, electricity going out, to a confusion about dates can happen, so be prepared. Also, always give it your best - even if it isn't perfect - to built up good will. Finally, just try. Ask for an extension. Try to explain the problem. What might have also helped is along with your e-mail, if you had provided your rough draft. That way the instructor had evidence to substantiate your explanation.

Regardless, you should be very proud of yourself for facing - and facing down - the self-destructive trait. If you're not proud of yourself, your twin is!

I'm glad it all worked out for you. I had a situation where I got the deadline wrong for an online exam. Luckily, the instructor reopened it for me. I was literally going to cry because I needed a certain GPA in the last 60 credit hours to get into Angelo State University.

I once misread the due date on an assignment and the mentor closed submissions so I couldn't submit anything. I was pretty worried since he wasn't a generous grader to begin with. But I emailed him a "sorry and please" with the submission attached and he was ok with it, graded it like he normally did.
