UMPI BLS Education or Management ???
#11
Maybe this should have been split from the original thread... Anyways, you should go for the BOG AAS and see if there is an emphasis in ECE, if not, then take the UMPI Educational Studies Minor. Have you checked their websites or the Degreeforum WIKI for more details on the emphasis or minors available for each?

But they might count as a degree in an approved related field? It doesn't list what the approved related fields are. Do you have a list of approved related fields?

For the 18 credits, your best bet is probably to stick with TESU and use Coopersmith. They have a ton of Education credits, most of which are ECE. Even if they're only used in the electives, or simply listed on the transcript, they should count. https://www.coopersmithcc.net/shop/ UMPI doesn't (usually) accept NCCRS credits, so I wouldn't count on being able to use Coopersmith courses at UMPI.

A director shall have attained one of the following qualification levels:
(1) A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 1 year of experience with children.
(2) A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 2 years of experience with children.
(3) An associate's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 3 years of experience with children.
(4) An associate's degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 4 years of experience with children.

I think the BS in Human Services is the most likely to meet those state requirements. You can get most (all?) requirements through Study.com and Coopersmith.

https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Co...Consulting

Some possibilities (there are actually more, but MyProgress is being a huge pain right now):
  • 6 credits in intervention: Family Therapy (PSY-306) and Substance Abuse Counseling (PSY-320) from Coopersmith
  • 9 credits in theoretical: Business Law at Sophia seems to count here? Maybe "White-Collar Crime" and/or "Family Support and Child Custody Law" from Lawshelf. Criminal Justice 305: The Juvenile Justice System from Study.com
  • 6 credits in client populations: Psychology 107: Life Span Developmental Psychology at Study.com, Business 307: Leadership & Organizational Behavior at Study.com, Psychology of Gender TECEP, Abnormal Psychology TECEP or Abnormal Psychology at Coopersmith
  • 3 credits in Research Methods: Criminal Justice 306: Research Methods in Criminal Justice from Study.com
  • 6 credits in Management: Business 101: Principles of Management from Study.com, Intro to Project Management from Sophia

Then you need 18 UL credits in Child Develop Services Applied or Child Develop Services Theory. TESU offers no classes that fit here, so it's not 100% certain what they mean by this. In this case, you'd need to work with an advisor. However, I suspect most Coopersmith Education courses would work, maybe Education 103: Classroom Management from Study.com.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210
