Is the Humanities general exam worth 6 or 3 credits? I know it varies from college to college, but in general, what is it? On CLEP/ACE website, it says 3 is recommended. If it is a general exam will I get credit for a specific course or just general credit? Was this exam one of the 8 that were downgraded to 3? Thanks!

Do you mean the ACE website? If so, you're correct, it's new eval is for 3 credits.
"Credit Recommendation: In the lower-division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 3 semester hours in humanities. Credit is recommended for candidates scoring 50 and above. (3/15)."

Yes, that is the website. Bummer! Do you think they will award those credits for a specific class or just as "general credits"? Thanks!

There is no way we can tell you that, as each school is completely different in their approach. Some will say that it fulfills a specific area, while others have a course they teach at that school that it will replace. It just depends on your school.
Just go to the school's website and look up CLEP to see if they will award credit for CLEP exams, and if they do, they usually have a list of which CLEP exams they accept and what they will count each exam as.

Ok. I looked that up, and they "say" that the Humanities CLEP counts for all of these classes: Music Fundamentals, Art Essentials, and World Lit, for a total of 6 credits. Is it possible that they would still award 6 credits, or have they just not updated their website? I will probably call and check just to make sure the test is worth taking. Thanks for your help!

Personally, I probably would not call and play dumb on this one.. If you are ok with 3 credits and just one class, just take it anyway and hope they never find out about the ACE update so you can get 2 classes and 6 credits.

Or you could call and just say that it was suggested that you verify the information listed on their website before paying the fee to take the exam.

Thanks for your help, everyone! I think I will probably call just to be sure I need some/all of those classes before paying, like BGSU_Alum_86 suggested.
