Just a quick update from your friendly guinea pig.
3/7 - applied online 3/10 - received welcome letter (email) 3/16-21 - Transcript companies started emailing me that the school had received my transcripts 5/12 - emailed my advisor with request to update my eval 5/18 - emailed my Graduation app 5/25 - emailed my advisor with request to update my eval 6/7 - emailed my advisor with request to update my eval 6/13 - my eval has finally been updated, I show 99% complete, all graduation requirements met! This took entirely too long, in my opinion. But at least it's complete. 6/13 - emailed the VP of Academic Affairs requesting a residency waiver ------------------------------ My eval says "A minimum of 15cr must be taken at WVNCC", while on the website, it says: Residency Requirement: 12 credit hours from a regionally accredited higher education institution. A minimum of 3 credits may be required at the host institution. Petition for exception to the residency requirement may be made to the Chief Academic Officer of the host institution. I wonder how long it will be before I hear back from anyone? Graduation is 6/30...

I graduated last month and my audit *still* says 99% complete with the "15 credits required" note. So don't go by that as meaning anything significant.
![]() Also, for non-Chickens reading this who won't be ready for the June conferral, your next opportunity to join The Flock will be the AUGUST 11 graduation. Get your graduation application in by FRIDAY, JULY 28! The final opportunity of 2017 will be in December (dates not available at the time of this post). And finally, for the proud Thundering Chicken flock - consider showing WVNCC your support for this (FREE) opportunity and for your alma mater. There's an alumni coordinator interested in developing more opportunities for participation, as well as the WVNCC Foundation and WVNCC Student Emergency Fund which could use your support.

Wanting to know whether or not I'm going to graduate isn't too much to ask, I don't think. And, as I stated, I'm guinea pigging this whole thing, so that for anyone who might desperately need a degree at some point in the future, at least they'll know what to expect. If you're in full panic mode because your company has just informed you that you must have a degree within a certain timeframe or you're going to lose your job, this could be a viable option for many, and knowing that there's no communication along the way, and you're told after graduation that "oh yeah, by the way, you graduated last Thursday" is something someone might need to know.
