Study Time: How I Did It…

Pre-Study-Prep: Obtain or set up whatever materials I will need to study (IC Flashcards, REA Books, Standard Deviants Videos, Pass-Your-Class Guides, and Petersons Practice Exams.

Week One: Begin to read books, review flashcards, watch videos. Call your test center and make an appointment in advance as they sometimes require a few weeks advance notice)

Week Two: Re-read books, review flashcards, watch videos Take 1-2 practice exams

Week Three: Continue to review all materials, take additional/final practice exams. You should be passing these with room to spare. Take real exam at end of the week and PASS.

Note you should have at this point already acquired pre-study-prep materials for your next exam so as not to waste time.

I just started studying Psych today. Even though you failed Sociology, I know you have the general idea down pact in your head. From what I have seen of psych so far, sociology will help you. The research methods component is the same, as are the ethical issues of conducting social science research, some theories of behavior, and even much of the history portion seems to run parallel.

My dry-run (without studying at all) Peterson's test score was a 65, with absolutely no background in psychology whatsoever, and I didn't even go over and review my answers. If Peterson's is anything like the real CLEP, which I haven't taken yet, I would say that Psych and Soc exams are about equal in difficulty. The answers to about 6/10 of the questions (like every one of these multiple choice tests I have taken so far) can either be found on other parts of the test, or wrong choices can be rationally eliminated. I go into these tests with the mindset that I already "own" 50% of the questions, and have to use my actual knowledge to work on the other 50%.

The best advice I can give anyone, which I always give to everyone, is that when you are taking the exam, to take as much time as you need... and then some. Review your answers as many times as you have to, and keep reviewing until you KNOW that you have exhausted your memory and logical capabilities and that there is no possible way that you can pull another correct answer out of your head. Then, take a deep breath and click "End Exam." Then, post your test score here so we can all celebrate with you!!!!!

I am always a crammer. I only studied about 3 days for 2 hours each day.
I didn't get a super high score but at least it was passing.
It was a very interesting subject to me.

I'm just curious about something: if you only missed the sociology exam by one point why aren't you retaking it?

Probably because of the 6 month requirement to retake a CLEP.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.

Bachelor of Science in PsychoRabbitology degree
Master of Education with a specialty in Rabbit-specific destructive munitions (or eLearning & Technology, I forget which)
Doctor of Philosophy in Wile E. Leadership with an area of specialty in Acme Mind Expansion - 2017 Hopefully

The LivePsych videos/quizzes really helped as did the specific exam feedback on Instantcert.
