I first heard about CLEP when I was in the military. When I really got interested was when I decided to go to law school and wanted to get my degree as quickly as possible, while working full-time; I did some googling and ended up here.

I'm very jealous of military folks who get these exams free! :p
They do deserve it though!

Directly from Excelsior College. Without CLEP & EC, I couldn't complete what I began 25 years ago.

I also learned about CLEP/DANTES when I joined the Air Force nearly nine years ago. I have a total of over 220 semester credit hours with over 80 of those being from exams alone. I even had my own educational consulting business at my last base as a part time job. I'm an enlisted educational counselor so it's basically my job to tell people about these tests. My difference is I bought over 400 used college textbooks for $1 each and made up lesson plans (I'm also a qualified AF academic instructor). I would do a degree plan and teach my lesson plans for a small fee to my friends, etc. Now I'm running out of time and am using this site to finish studying for two final exams. I examined out of 24 of my 30 Psychology major hours, nearly my entire Criminal Justice major, and I did examine out of my entire Management minor. I also do online classes, work full time, and am expecting my third child in three years. Life is hectic here but I have to get my degree finished soon!

CLEP exams are part of my curriculum as a
CollegePlus! student. I also learned about CLEPs when I was thinking about going to
Verity College, but since I can do the same thing from home (and at my own pace without sacrificing violin), I decided against it (Verity).

Very interesting... How'd you learn about CollegePlus?

The man that told me about this site is a former employee of Global Learning Strategies, who owns CPlus. It's funny how all of these sites are linked together. His teenage children are also working on degrees from the other school mentioned.

Wow, Scott, that's
very interesting! Cool! What a small world...
Steve: Hm...let's see...I think my parents were reading
this book, which talked about how to get your degree faster, cheaper, and from home, but didn't really understand how to do it. Toward the back of the book, they mention CollegePlus...and, when we learned more about it, we thought it was a good idea. As a CollegePlus! student, I have a learning template which tells me what I have to CLEP out of, and what I have to portfolio...this is great for me because 1) my parents don't want me leaving home so young (16) and 2) I don't want to give up my excellent violin teacher.
Hopefully, after getting my BA I can go to a conservatory or other big-name school to get a higher degree in music...
Anyway, that was probably more than you wanted to know!

and
http://www.bain4weeks.com
I discovered these two sites on the same night while searching for accelerated degree programs. If Instantcert could ever get all of the ECE exams outlined in the bain4weeks.com plan they could raise their prices!hilarious
Materials for a GRE exam like Psychology would be incredible as well. Imagine 30 credits (18 upper level) for passing one exam in the 80th percentile. That is what Excelsior offers for the GRE subject exams.

Steelers,
The same man I mentioned who turned me on to this site, also told me about BAin4weeks.com, GLS, blackboard.com, and a few other DL sites. Usually if someone has found a few of these, you'll find a connection to more!
