Horry/Georgetown Technical College is it NA, RA or what
#1
My niece just graduated HS and won a $5k scholarship To Horry/Georgetown technical. She doesn't want to go now because she is not sure what she wants to do. I know she could CLEP out of the basics but I think she could use the classroom comradely at this point. My confusion is about this college my nephew was taking a welding certificate there and none of his credits transferred. I have been out of the loop for a while so I would appreciate some enlightening here.

Here you go. They are RA, by SACS as per their webpage here: Accreditations | Horry Georgetown Technical College
Oh and they have some specific program accreditation as well, seems like a very good 4 year college to me...

Hi Linda, nice to see you again!

My oldest son has a welding certificate (from a different school) but it was obtained through their adult ed/community education division- perhaps that is the case with your nephew? I've frequently seen welding fall under that division.

It may be that your welding credits didn't transfer over to another school because they don't specifically accept welding credits; but that might not apply to general education courses your niece would take. So I would drill down a bit to get more info: what specific courses did your nephew take, and where did he try to transfer them to, and what was the reason given for not accepting the credits? For instance, did he decide to go to a 4-year college as a business major, and there was just nowhere in the degree plan to fit those credits? There is usually a reason for something.

Congrats to your niece, that's awesome! Tell her to use that scholarship!
