Hollins University - $75 Million donation!
#1
So, some anonymous alumna is donating a hefty $75 million, in $25 million increments over 3 years.  I have never heard of this Women's college until now.  Amazing, I wonder what reason was there to donate such a huge amount?  I also wonder if that alumna is going to have a building or something named after them...  Link: Anonymous Alumna Gives Hollins University a Record $75M (insidehighered.com)

I doubt it. My guess is the gift was given under condition of anonymity. The entire gift is for a fund - the Levavi Oculos fund (I lift up my eyes) designated for scholarships - to pay for tuition of students who would not be otherwise able to attend. Magnificent, as well as munificent!

I'd figure naming a building would likely breach the conditions of the gift - or contribute to it, anyway. People would be curious as to why the building was named --- and the whole story might very well come to light.

I know dozens of people that have graduated from Hollins. Although most from before they were Hollins University and still Hollins College. They have quite a few very successful writing program graduates (the masters programs are co-ed, just the undergraduate portion is all women)

If you've seen the new series Dopesick on Netflix, that's based off a book written by a Hollins graduate.
