I would like to start a new thread with specific posts about Master's Degree programs only.

Here are the guidelines for posting to this thread.

Please post your experience with any self paced program with which you have personal experience.

Must be self paced

Must be accredited (RA or NA)

Must be online or independent study (correspondence)

Post your experience with their delivery method, customer service, flexibility of the program and any other factors which relate to Instantcert students.

Specific attention should be placed on any programs that allow you to test out of a course, award graduate credit for graduate level business or professional experience, or award other credit by non-traditional means.

I have just been accepted to California Coast University, MBA program.

I am very excited about this program and must say that I am pleased with the program so far.

Here are some highlights;

• Nationally accredited (DETC)
  

• under $10,000 for enrollment and courses
  

• Textbooks available for easy rental from university library for $25.00
  

• Classes can be completed entirely online or delivered in paper version by US Mail anywhere in the world
  

• Program can be completed in as little as 9 months (actually sooner if you can complete the coursework, but won't be awarded before 9 months as per accreditation body)
  

• Payment arrangements are easy. As little as $100 per month
  

• Challenge exams may be allowed for up to three courses if you have sufficient professional experience to demonstrate a reasonable likelyhood of passing the final exam. You must still take the 100 question final exam. Not everyone qualifies. I was allowed to take 2 challenge exams and have requested consideration for a third course. Only the final exam required for challenging a course.
  

• No weekly discussion board posting requirements.
  

• Each class is 4 open book quizzes, a brief essay (with each section) and an open book proctored final exam.
  

• You can take 4 courses at a time
  

I just started this program and I will post additional info as I get it. I haven't been this excited in a long time. I hope it works out..

Is it only one essay per MBA course? The MS Psychology requires four each now. I'm told the M.Ed requires many, many essays.

You may be right. I think it is one essay for each section. Either way I am told that it is just to confirm that you have learned the material and so that CCU can assure people that they are not just handing out degrees as some might think they are doing. This is actually more than alot of RA schools require.

I am glad that there are not tons of long 5-10 page papers required for each class. I would much rather several short papers than 1 long paper for each course.

CCU is not AACSB accredited to my knowledge.

For me the degree will be used as a basis for knowledge and for promotion within the Government so that accreditation is not necessarily an important factor.

For others in private sector or who want to transfer to a large school or DBA program, it might be.

There are some good and cheap grad programs available 100% online. For many, online tuition is the same regardless of residency.
