Help choosing between two programs for this Fall

Ended up deciding on Georgetown. Faculty bios are off the charts. I get a ton of great Business classes. Liberal arts courses. 54 electives. After I graduate I’ll get to walk in the official school commencement on campus in Spring. I’ll have 100% full Georgetown University alumni benefits and officially be part of the Association upon graduation. I’m going to work in sales/ marketing for a few years and save some money while taking a break before pursuing my masters in Applied Intelligence through the same school. I feel I have a great path and at $400 per credit, that’s an amazing deal. Their masters programs are much more expensive. It feels great being part of that high lofty altitude of elite private Jesuit education. Hoya Saxa!

P.S. My degree is identical to traditional students who graduate from the college of arts. It says “Georgetown University” and not “Georgetown University School for Continuing Studies” also Saint Louis’s program is through their “School for Professional Studies” ?‍♂️

SLU is a well regarded school, and their grad programs are top notch.

IMO Georgetown has lost a bit of luster since their online degrees have been sort of a degree farm cash cow in recent years.

Correct me if I’m wrong, does SLU carry national recognition and weight to employers? Or is it just known regionally in the Midwest?

Why would you say Georgetown is a money making online cash cow? Their only online bachelors is cheap. Their masters are more expensive than a lot of other graduate degree programs online at $1,529 per credit hour. Also the faculty bios are more impressive than SLU’s School for Professional Studies. The internship and job connections in DC are very good through Georgetown SCS

I’m a 36 year old who is about to start college as a first year student remotely. I have to choose between two programs by this spring. I was accepted into Georgetown University School for Continuing Studies for a B.A. in Liberal Studies with a 48 hour concentration in Business. The program consists of 18 credits of core courses with 48 credits towards business with 54 elective credit. $400/ credit hour $48,000 total for 4 years. Diploma is the same as traditional undergraduates. 

I was also accepted into Saint Louis University School for Professional Studies with a B.A. in General Studies with a concentration in Data Analytics. $650/ credit hour $78,000 total for 4 years. 

I plan on getting into Sales/Marketing/ Digital Marketing. I also enjoy writing and love history. A Jesuit education is important to me. I’m currently leaning towards Georgetown because even at SCS they have world class faculty and the same quality education as on campus traditional students and at $400/ credit hour that’s hard to beat. I appreciate the advice.

@SilentWarrior, Welcome to the board, that's a great introduction post with a few pieces of information, but doesn't paint a full picture of your scenario. There are so many various variables you want to provide us that is asked for in the addendum and template, as that will give us more in depth information on your situation. I usually recommend people to work on the trifecta of certs, degree, experience, you're looking at a Liberal Studies and a Professional Studies degree at the Bachelors level, these are really specialized or in one major per say... Did you get a scholarship or a tuition assistance/reimbursement for the educational journey? And that's the main reason we don't want to have multiple accounts as it's just going to cause confusion. The admin/webmaster now needs to cleanup the accounts with either one they want to keep.

In regards to the degree, as I mentioned in my posts above, I still recommend the trifecta, plus getting a quick Bachelors and then a Masters of your choice. If you want to decide on either of these institutions, you can get an inexpensive Bachelors first and then go for a Masters at either institution if you ever wanted to get a Masters.

You can be done with UMPI BLS in 2-3 sessions and quickly work on the Masters in the middle of this year, there shouldn't be much wait time to start the Masters at Georgetown or Saint Louis. You get the Bachelors & Masters and the cost would be the cheaper than the Bachelors alone, amazing eh?

Honestly starting to question your intelligence here. UMPI is a puss poor ranked school. I’m looking for a quality Jesuit education. Both these schools and programs are nationally ranked. Also the tuition for my Georgetown program is just slightly higher than my state university for an online education. If you looked at my Georgetown faculty compared to UMPI and my state University it’s  night and day in comparison to quality recognition and respect. You guys are nuts
