Hi,
I am currently studying for Business Law and I bought the REA book.
The IC covered a lot of checks and forges , but I don't even see them mentioned in the REA.
Any suggestions about the actual test would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there - do you have access to the specific forum feedback? I can answer some questions about BL II, but didn't take the first one.
Do you need BL I? If you've still got time to study, you might want to consider BL II as they both have the same degree of difficulty (or so they say) and you get UL for BL II.

BL II is a little tougher, IMHO, but I'd recommend Barrons Business Law as the book to use (it would cover both exams, BTW).

REA is all you need. I ignored the checks and forges part and was fine for Biz Law I.
Check specific exam feedback.
You need to know contract law. I rocked this test after intensely studying the REA book. I was very happy with my performance and most of the questions were simple but I read the whole REA book and did all the tests multiple times.
I studied for 2 full 8 hr days and part of another day over Christmas break.

Yes, there is Bus Law CLEP and Bus Law II DSST. They're both supposed to be challenging tests, but BL II gives you upper level credit. I was a little scared to take BL II because there are no IC cards, but I bought the Barron's Bus Law book and also the small green BL II REA book. I used the specific feedback forum as a guide to what I should focus on, and did it!
I didn't think it was all that bad, but being in B2B sales, I have had quite a bit of experience negotiating contract so I can read "legal speak" pretty well lol. I think that's what it boils down to - law is a totally different language. The concepts aren't tough, it's just a matter of understanding what you're reading. If you can understand it and memorize, you'll do fine.

took Bus Law I and I don't remember anything about checks and forges.
I used only the REA and made a 67 on it. However, I did feel like the REA PT's were significantly easier than the actual test.
The test is weighted heavily on situational contract law. In other words they're going to give you lots of hypothetical situations and then ask you something like "How would most courts rule if Jill attempts to sue Ann?" You need to know the:
UCC well and how it relates to seller/buyer contracts esp. between merchants.
Know your Bankruptcy code well
the Statute of Frauds
How being a Minor effects contracts
there were a ton of Q's on those...
good luck!

Failed the CLEP Intro to business Law, I just ran out of time. There is a lot of reading. I got a 49 and had 20 questions I just check off in the last three minutes. I would have passed if I had 10 more minutes of time. It was my first CLEP and I just didn't watch the clock, it was totally my fault, even though I knew the subject matter, I just couldn't read that fast.
