Hellenic American MBA Course Reviews
#1
I emailed with HAU admission and it seems that the $3000 total cost is still available for a March start.  I've been considering enrolling in this program, but I haven't been able to find much about the actual coursework.  I went through the search and several people appear to have enrolled in this program. Can anyone give us a basic rundown of class format?  I saw their were some three hour conferences for example- are those options, recorded, or only at the listed time.  Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm brand new but may be able to help Monday (catching up). The 1st class seems to be reading a few texts and writing fairly short responses. At the end you do a couple case studies. Books are paper or digital (I prefer paper). Classes are 7 weeks except for electives (they are 15). The blackboard GUI is very rudimentary - not slick like a full-tuition university with large staff but it works. It seems like the only, "Conferences" for this first class can be scheduled by the student. I'll stop here being brand new and out of town all last week. Feel free to ping me Monday after I've powered through a little

I'm on my 4th class and each has been very different. It turns out that we don't actually meet for 3 hours per week, or at least, I haven't had such a class yet. Each professor has freedom to decide when and how much class will meet, and most keep it to a few short sessions sprinkled throughout the term. One professor, quite humerously, schedules a weekly optional class meeting at a time that he knows absolutely nobody in the class is able to show up.

All but one of my classes so far have been very hefty in terms of content and activities. It's been a big mix of live lectures, recorded lectures, supplementary third-party lectures, textbooks, supplementary articles, checkpoint questions, individual projects, group projects, presentations, bulletin board discussions, and of course term papers. It hasn't been overwhelming, but they do keep you busy.

Class size is small and it's been easy to get to know my cohort. There's only one person I've come across who I'm really trying to avoid ever working with again, but the rest of everyone have been great to me and fun to work with. All of my professors so far have been responsive and helpful.

I don't know what the grading standards are really like, since I've only gotten A's so far and I don't plan on testing my luck to see how hard I would have to fall to wind up getting a B or worse. However, I can confidently say that I am learning, that there is enough material to allow anyone to challenge themselves and grow along the way, and that completing this degree will be a real accomplishment that I will be genuinely proud of.

Whether or not anybody else recognizes my accomplishment to the same degree, remains to be seen.

I am planning on starting in March. I couldn't pass it up (this time), and it fits what I'm looking for in an MBA right now.

That was helpful Maniac Craniac.  I'm in Business Landscape.  Seems like each week will be copious reading and 4-5 paragraphs of writing (two case studies at the end).  Which class seemed the lightest?  Did you use MLA or APA?  Thx
