Has anyone used a TESU degree to obtain CA teaching certificate?

Has anyone used a BS/BA from TESU (or other big 3 or similar) to become a teacher in California? Mapping out possible routes for GF right now, and one of the routes we’re looking at is transferring from a CA community college to TESU. I’m wondering what that would look like if she were to decide to go after her teaching certificate (single subject, or general).

TESU does not have a teaching credential program, so if you wanted to go this route, you'd get your degree in whatever you wanted, and then go through an alternative certification program to get your credential.  It's easy enough to do though, and the cost savings over going through a 4yr in-state CA school would be huge.  Just a few extra hoops  to jump through.

Wrap up her AA, then instead of transferring to a state school knock out whatever can be done through Study or something that way (or even knock those out while finishing the AA) before transferring to TESU (they have a foreign language degree). Then find a teaching certificate program to go through. Any suggestions on a cert program? Or know if anyone here has gone this route?

FYI, TESU's foreign language degree/degrees is/are not vert alt-credit friendly. So, they're much more expensive. It isn't easy to find the correct classes, even for Spanish language. You can find some here: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Ob...n_Language but I'm not sure that I ever found enough to actually get a degree in Spanish, let alone the other languages.

Here’s a list of what she is scheduled to finish at our community college for her AA in Spanish and AA in 3 dimensional art (list includes what she has completed and what she has left). Most of them are from California community college, with some from SUNY. My hope was that with these, and alt credits, she would be at at least 90 transferring in (more would be awesome) and her major classes would be about all that was left. As always, any advice, thoughts, etc are more than appropriated. Any advice on alt credits for this idea, or if there is another program that I should look into. Her plan was to transfer to a CSU for her BA in Spanish, then go for a single subject teaching degree. She’s starting to look at it and double think being in school for that much longer. Between that and the fact that I’m slow rolling my last three classes for a BSNET from Excelsior at the moment (Ex Navy Nuke) is why I’m thinking this route may be quicker for her.

If this person wants to teach, then they to find a program that meets the state's licensing requirements.

The idea of an AA or foreign language degree seems like a waste of time and money.  If you want to prove you can speak Spanish, you don't need a degree, just take the DELE exam.

No idea why they are still linking solely to the old catalog. The requirements are largely the same. The biggest issue is getting the required UL credit. Most foreign language credits seem to be LL. You need 18 total UL credits, 3 of which are the capstone. That leaves 5 UL credits. I don't believe that the intermediate language courses are UL, but the advanced ones should be.

OSU does seem to have sufficient UL classes for Spanish: https://ecampus.oregonstate.edu/soc/ecat...bject=SPAN That would be almost $5k just for the 5 classes, though. It is worth it if THIS is the degree she really wants, but that's still more costly than the average TESU degree.
