I'm finishing up my ALM in IT at HES this semester. I highly recommend taking advantage of the on-campus options. It is a great experience and the people are very welcoming. I attended the Harvard Summer School 10 years ago and wanted to do so again last year so that it would count toward my degree. However, due to family illness I was not able to. I still kind of regret not going to Summer School last year.

Agree 100% If you can get there, or even attend some of the options like the three week mini-mester that would be better. You get to meet people and get that personal interaction.

I still applaud the new hybrid model though, as it will make this that much more accessible for so many people! So much easier to get away for a few days, so much cheaper, and you still get some face time with other students and teachers.

BTW....daughter was offered the paid internship! Smile

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

I've read the information provided on the website but what are the residency requirements for graduate degrees. The wording doesn't make sense to me. I assume these changes didn't transfer to the graduate program because I don't see any such change on their website. Thanks in advance!
Don't miss out on something great just because it might also be difficult.

Actually when you run the degree course search there is a box to check for hybrid courses, at least two that pop up are for Graduate courses (both business). Not all of the graduate programs require the same number of residency credits (unless thats recently changed). So, these are applicable to the masters programs I believe. They only have a handful of hybrids per term, its still new, at least one course added the 3 day residency this past semester as a test of sorts (or so it seems).

It depends on the graduate degree. For instance, the Information Technlology degree and the Journalism degree only require 1 on-campus course. The Management and Biotechnology degrees require 4 on-campus courses. The non-professional ALM track requires 3 on campus courses.

Also keep in mind that even though a program may only require a set number of on campus courses, you may have to take more because there are not enough online courses for the degree. For example, years ago, the ALM in IT (information management systems) concentration only required 1 on campus course, BUT two of the required courses (the capstone and the technology management course) were only offered online. To make matters worse, while they were offered both in the fall and the spring, they were offered ON THE SAME DAY AT THE SAME TIME. This meant that you pretty much had to come to campus for two semesters. Thankfully, they later added other (online and on-campus) options to fulfill the management requirement.

I saved my on campus requirement for my last semester. Basically, I commute every week from Chicago to Boston, flying to school Monday morning and flying back home Wednesday morning. A surprising number of people commute. Others chose to move to Cambridge for the semester.

I was looking at Legal Studies. I looked and couldn't find the residency requirement for that concentration.

the website has pdf docs for each program's requirements- look for the link and use these for searching. They have little check boxes. Couple things- field requirements (last time I looked) were only offered on campus during regular length fall/spring terms. That's the deal breaker for me. Also, last time I looked, Jan sessions were not counting for grad degrees- might have changed. Finally, if you go for a summer, you can take 2 classes, they also offer dorms..party on dude

Legal Studies is one of fields in the "Liberal Arts" concentration, as opposed to the professional concentrations like Information Technology, Management, Biotechnology, etc.

Since it is in the Liberal Arts concentration, the requirements are no more than 6 online classes, 3 mandatory on campus classes, and the thesis.

Here is the residency requirements for Legal Studies:
