HI new to the total online/testing out options available
#1
Hi
Let me start off by saying Thank You to all who post on the forums and the wealth of knowledge you all share on how to attain the ultimate goal of completing ones education.

I apologize in advance for the long post.

As the title states I am new to the total online/testing out options available. I have done some Googling and looking through posts on the forum and decided to take the leap at the BSBA in Operations Management since my employer will reimburse and is partnered with TESC for reduced tuition.

I sent my brick and mortar transcripts from the university and community colleges I attended to TESC for evaluation in BSBA in Operations Management. I currently have an AS in Bus Admin from Delgado CC and an AAS in Ind Tech-Process Tech from Nunez CC and several Gen Ed classes from the University of New Orleans.

The TESC Academic Evaluation showed 79 credits transferred in with 41 SH left to complete. I am looking at using DSST, CLEP or Straightline-(SL) to fulfill the most I can of the remaining credits and take TESC online classes for the rest.

THIS IS WHERE I NEED YALL"S HELP!!!

I don't know if my choices are good ones or not as far as difficulty, cost transferability, etc.

The courses/requirements needing to be completed are:
-> Statistics-(3SH) (SL or DSST)

->Responsibility-6SH
Intro to Sociology- (3SH) (SL) or Human/Cultural Geography (DSST)
Cultural Anthropology (3SH) (SL) or General Anthropology (DSST)

-> General Ed Electives-2SH
Principals of Supervision (3SH)-(DSST)

-> Core 27 SH
Principals of Managerial Accounting-(SL) (?????) (3SH)
Principles of Finance (?????) (3SH)

-->Business in Society/ Int'l Mgt requirement
Business Ethics-(SL) (????) (3SH)

->Strategic Management or Business Policy (?????) (3SH)

-> Specialization *(12SH must be @ 300/400 level)*
OPM requirement
Intro to Ops Mang and Quality Assurance (??????) (6SH)

OPM electives (????) (12 SH) *(6SH must be @ 300/400 level)*

THANKS IN ADVANCE

Saylor Business Statistics counts as OPM-351 at TESC for 3 more hours. Along with Supply Chain Management OPM-420 at Penn Foster, you would have your 6 UL hours in OPM covered.

KayV,

Do you know of anyone that has had Saylor's business statistics course transfer in as OPM-351? I read the equivalency chart and as you know it states "Specifically, this course can substitute for OPM-351." I am just wondering if it has been proven true. If so, then definately use it for an elective!

I'm still perturbed they designated Aleks business stats as duplicate for intro/behavioral stats which I felt unfair. The Aleks business stats course was both more difficult and longer than intro and behavioral stats. I wonder what would differentiate the Saylor course; proctored final?

The TESC web page about the ASBA with the Saylor option lists its equivalency in the ASBA Open Course Option degree chart. Saylor's BUS204 Business Statistics is listed, and it shows that this course transfers to TESC as OPM-351 Business Statistics.

Open Course Option for ASBA

Hello,

Yes I have visited the website which is where I copied the quoted course description. My question was/is, has anyone actually taken the exam and had it transfer to their TESC transcript as OPM-351?

It's one thing to promote a possible transfer, "Specifically, this course can substitute for OPM-351" and another to have it actually happen. Hope this added clarity.
