HELP with Accounting Requirement from EC
#1
Finally got my credit evaluation back and I have a question:

My Business Component section says:

Accounting I (Financial) - needed
Accounting II (Managerial) - needed

Does the one CLEP exam count for both of these?

I noticed that the exam flashcard section sys 6 credits for the accounting exam, does that mean it counts for both?

Thanks in advance...

Nope. Not anymore. It used to but they changed it last year. It is only good for the Financial Acct and 3 credits. You have to do a seperate Managerial Acct class and as far as I know there is no way to test out of it right now. If anyone knows differently I would love to know.

The Penn Foster College Managerial Accounting course also fulfills the requirement. Cost is reasonable -- around $175 I think, including textbook and workbook. There are four on-line open-book exams, and then you have to arrange for a proctor for the open-book final. The final has a one-hour time limit, and is not easy, but passable if you're well prepared. If you actually work through the course material as it is designed, you will learn the subject matter quite thoroughly. If you plow through it in a week (like I did) you'll find the final plenty scary. I passed, but it was white-knuckle time waiting for the results. Don't let the fact that it's open-book relax you -- it's a written exam, and the time limit is a challenge even if you know all the answers going in.

I second Gary's comments, I finished the accounting course in about a month waited 2 weeks for the final and just barely got finished in the time limit, that 1 hour is a killer. I used all the space on the exam paper to include the backs of the papers and all the additional work papers included in the packet and had to rush my last few questions. My hand writing is not the best most of the time and when you have to try to fit your answers in with limited space I feel sorry for the grader of my test. It was a race against the clock to get everything finished for me and I had writers cramp when I got done. I passed and finished up the course but go into your exam well prepared or you won't get done.

Don't forget your local community college. They can be very affordable, convenient and, most importantly, you get to deal with a real person. Even on-line through your local community college often works well--AND it may qualify you to challenge some of THEIR courses--courses that do not have CLEP/DSST/ECE/TECEP exams--for credit by exam.

What is LSU? What costs are associated? So it's 7 assignments, then a midterm, then 7 more assignments, then a final... is that right? And that's for Accounting I, or Accounting II?
Thanks
