Does anyone here have dyslexia or learning disability, or have a child who does? We homeschool our children. I've never officially had my son tested for dyslexia. I've worked with him closely to overcome hurdles.
He's noticing that he's having a difficult time with some of the courses, especially the C++. He said he can get the numbers, but has a difficult time with some of the text. He does much better on the multiple choice answers, but when it comes to spelling not very well.
I need to know where and how to get him tested, where it won't cost so much? We do travel between Virginia Beach and New London County Connecticut.
Does anyone know if there are college resources to do the testing in the Tidewater area, Virginia we are here now.

While you didn't explicitly say this, please don't associate problems in C++ with dyslexia. C++ was created by Bjarne Stroustrup. There was an elaborate hoax where he purportedly said he created "a language so complicated, so difficult to learn, that nobody would ever be able to swamp the market with programmers" and that he did it as a joke. My point is that C++ is so difficult that many, many professional programmers believed the hoax.

How old is your son? If he is young enough you may be able to get the school district to test him. If he does have dyslexia what are you planning to do with the diagnosis? Any kind of doctor Pediatrician, psychiatrist, psychologist should be able to do testing. When you say not cost too much what is your expectation of reasonable cost? I have 2 learning disabled children and have had private and school based testing done the cost can vary.

I wasn't saying it was c++, but he has noticed a difference in how he's processing information. He's also having a difficult time if the questions aren't multiple choice. We have been able to work past issues that he was having. However, this is all new as he's working on his own. He's 16. I Can't go through the school system here, as we are only here for a few months and will go to our home state for a bit. We travel between a few states. I did find a testingcenter here. It's $650 for an evaluation, which is fine. Im going to check into vocational rehab here to.
