HELP - finishing Bachelor's degree Computer Engineering / Information Technology
#21
If you check the link dfrecore sent you to in his original mention of it here http://www.degreeforum.net/general-educa...post200507

You'll see it was the 312 class he recommended. Not sure how you ended up doing 311, but there's no way to get TESU to accept that. The names are similar, but only 312 gets college credit.

dfrecore Wrote:... The only reason I wouldn't apply too early is that TESU is pretty slow at doing the evaluations (they're at about 25 business days right now), so when you get the initial evaluation of your credits, it's good to make sure that all of the things you want transferred are in, and they evaluate as many as possible. The next time you send things after the first, you wait at least a month to get the eval again. So each time you send stuff, it kind of slows down the process. ...
I never found it so. Yes, each new transcript takes 3-4 weeks to show up in your transcript/eval, but sending another transcript in never seemed to delay one from earlier in my experience. If I sent in two test transcripts a week apart, the first one would show up about a week before the second. My view is that it's very satisfying to see credit show up in your eval, and it can reduce the anxiety that some of us have especially early on. I'd apply sooner rather than later.

Hey TCK2008
(For some reason I read that as TCK888, I guess I need more sleep!)

Anyways, welcome to the board. I wanted to chime in a bit and see if I can help out.
I actually have the same degree plan (last half) as yours as I copied most of it from this thread.
I started a thread geared towards the same goal of completing a BSBA CIS then moving onto a MBA/MIS.
http://www.degreeforum.net/excelsior-tho...post201499

My suggestions are the following:
- Have a timeline, June to apply to TESU and have all ACE credits transferred before Oct 1 for Dec grad.
- Complete the correct Ethics 312 course and continue working on your Saylor courses
- Change your DSST Public Speaking to SL Intro to Comm as recommended below
This is because you already will be taking a SL course, your month subscription is paid for.
You can finish both courses within the month and you're in great shape. Save time from driving to a DSST center.
- I would transfer everything to TESU after you've completed the Saylor/SL courses as it's evaluated by ACE.
This way you don't have to pay each time to transfer your Ethics/TEEX, Saylor, and SL courses when you're done each one.
- You can work on your 2 DSST and 2 CSU Global courses and TECEPS as they aren't evaluated by ACE.

You should also consider the time you have for each course and pace yourself.
For example, a week for each Saylor course and then take the Proctored Final.
Note: Saylor and Straighterline, as well as the TECEPS are all done by Proctor U.

That's pretty much the plan for me as well.
I'm confident I can do it by the timelines I've set out for myself.
I just can't wait to graduate at the end of the year, I know you can do it too.
The two of us put off completing our degrees for far too long. It is our time to shine.
I look forward to next year as I'm deciding on my graduate degree.

Hi Dfrecore,

Yeah, I'm trying to follow the plan you provided to me. I finished the Free Ethics course 311 but I see that it will not count which is fine, I dont know if I need to take the Ethic 312 as well. It was pretty easy anyways and free. I have registered at Saylor to take the 4 courses and I'm also planning to register at CSU-Global to take CIS-320 REQUIRED - Info Systems Analysis and Design (MIS350EX)
CIS-499 Cloud Computing and Big Data. I understand once I enroll I have 2 months to complete both courses. Is it at my own pace or have strict class to follow? I was also doing the Cybersecurity which I have also completed. I want to take all courses now before the summer so I can concentrate and prepare for those TECEP and finish the Bachelors.

I've been reading the forum as much as I can with my busy schedule and always appreciate everyone's feedback and help. Thanks again!!!

Hi bjcheung77,

Thanks for your comments, it is very motivating.

If I have to go back and take the Ethics 312 will do as well. 311 was very easy for me. I thought that was the one I needed but not a problem I will also take the 312.
I'm enrolled in Saylor and will also enroll at CSU-Global to take the other two courses dfrecore has been helping me alot getting in motion. I appreciate everyone's time and support on this forum. If I can also contribute with anything later on would be great. Tck

Definitely go back and take 312. It shouldn't be any/much harder than 311 and you can retake it as needed to reach your 70%. You'll need it for the general education ethics requirement.

Free credit is free credit. don't leave it on the table.

You are all right! I actually copied and pasted the incorrect Ethics course. It is my fault and good learning experience. I just registered for 312 which shows portions of the course completed because of 311. It shouldn't take me long to complete just more details of the canons and some more. Thanks

Hi,

I just passed Ethics 312 with 92% which is not that different from 311. All material is in the course modules and some logic to be applied as well for the ethical dilemmas, etc.

I'm building my transcripts and have the following already in ACE:

Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer on Windows Server 2003 MLS-0004
Cyber Security for Everyone TEEX-0250
Cyber Security for IT Professionals TEEX-0251
Cyber Security for Business Professionals TEEX-0252

I have completed :

Ethical Guidelines for Insurance Professionals 16-FEB-16 17-FEB-17
Completed
Ethics and the CPCU Code of Professional Conduct 02-MAR-16 03-MAR-17
Completed

I will add it now to ACE and immediately start working on those at Saylor.

Guys I'm really exited even though it is time consuming and getting behind on other work stuff , home, wife, kids ;-)

Hi,

I'm working on ECON-102 at Saylor, still reading course material and I saw there are two different final exams. One provided by Saylor and the other one is proctored. I'm sure I need to take the proctored one to transfer credits to ACE. Is the Saylor final exam similar to the proctored one or totally different? I'm reading at a good pace but I prefer to go directly to the proctored one if they are totally different.

Hello,

I just realized that I'm starting to work on ECON-102 at Saylor, when I'm supposed to be doing ECO-111 from Straighterline. What is the difference and how does it impact difficulty and cost? Thank you
