HEADS UP! Transfer Credit Policy Change
#21
(12-16-2020, 03:22 PM)allvia Wrote: If TESU is your plan - apply (for the program you want), send transcripts, sign up for a TECEP (so you are enrolled!!) - and then get it done - you have 2 1/2 months to get them your Alt Credits (NCCRS/ACE). I strongly suggest you focus on the UL first where you can. LL credits are always available at a reasonable cost through the CCs.

Does the TECEP have to be 3 credits? Can it be a 1 credit TECEP to fulfill the requirement especially for this transfer credit policy revision?

If you intend to enroll in TESU and have accumulated more than the 45/90 credits, we will still accept credits above the 45/90-credit maximum provided that:

  • You enroll in an undergraduate course for the January, February or March 2021 terms and;

  • You submit your transcript(s) for all ACE and NCCRs recommended courses to us by March 1, 2021.

We can still get our degrees we just have to change the way we do things. 90 credits is still a lot of credits and TESU is still taking courses from RA sources.

Sorry, what are RA sources?

University of London can give you an online degree for 6k GBP:

or try CUNY. They accept 105 transfer credits:

You can suffice their RA credit requirement by taking self-paced courses on BYU, University of Idaho, Tel Learning.

I'm hoping this will mean more options similar to TEL Learning will crop up. You know, looking on the positive side.

It's more expensive than ACE credit, but RA credit is also far more portable, so won't tie people into quite as limited a number of universities.

UMPI is a good choice for many degrees! More than ever, I wish they had Comp Sci or at least some sort of STEM degree.

I'd like to suggest enrolling in SOS110 course instead of dealing with tecep issues. reason? tecep doesn't count in the 16 residency credits and need to take sos110 anyway.  Doable course while getting any above the 90 allowance.  just a suggestion....

Effective Jan. 1, 2021, the University will accept a maximum of 90 undergraduate credits for a baccalaureate degree and 45 semester hours for an associate degree from noncollegiate providers regardless of the source. Noncollegiate providers are those with college credit recommendations from the American Council on Education (ACE) and the National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS). The sources include credit earned from military training and education on the Joint Services Transcript (JST), corporate training, College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support Exam (DSST) and Advanced Placement Exams as well as credits earned from TESU approved educational providers.

If you have additional ACE/NCCRS transfer credit that you intend to apply to your TESU degree, we will still accept credits above the 45/90 provided that you submit your transcript(s) for all ACE and NCCRs recommended courses to us by March 1, 2021.

COSC accepts SDC and Saylor, some of which might be NCCRS. But, of the providers that they currently accept, none are wholly NCCRS like Coopersmith is.

TESU also offers a wider variety of degrees than COSC does. If you just want a basic BALS or BSBA (I think), COSC is a great choice. Other degrees can be more difficult/expensive to get through COSC than they would be through Excelsior/TESU.

The 1-credit TECEP should definitely work for this. Although taking the cornerstone might be a good idea, I would NOT recommend this. You're going to want to slam as many UL courses into the next couple of months as possible. As easy as SOS-110 might be, that's something that can be taken at any time. Leave that for later. Concentrate on your ULs and get those to TESU ASAP.
