HEADS UP! Transfer Credit Policy Change
#61

We can still get our degrees we just have to change the way we do things. 90 credits is still a lot of credits and TESU is still taking courses from RA sources.

I agree.  As most colleges beef up their online offerings they will realize that their marginal cost of delivery has been lowered dramatically and many should offer courses at competitive rates.  It will be a little more work and won't be pass/fail but, especially with in-state tuition, it won't be a massive increase in total cost to get a few additional credits.

I have great sympathy for you.  You have been working hard.  I know it is easy to want to throw in the towel.  I certainly did several times and will never know how much those delays cost me in career earning potential but I suspect it is a monstrous sum.  I would advise you not to do the same and just power through.

and yes, you're fine.

by the way, for random reading....
In the FAQ it does say "If your record already has more than 45/90 credits from any single [non collegiate] source, we will allow that to remain on your record as long as you maintain enrollment."  I'm pretty sure that also includes those who graduate in March 2021 because of when terms begin/end and new policy takes effect.

Oh thank you for that. Today was a big scare for me considering I had massive amount of credits from ace and thought my graduation would be delay. I call tomorrow to triple check but it looks like I made it by slim margins. Thank you again for the help!

I wonder if independent study courses through asu Earned admission , LSU, North Dakota state , ect would fall into this or are these still considered ra ?

Oof ;( Will they still evaluate ACE/NCCRS credits beyond 90 as long as 90 is all that's used to meet degree requirements? Are they going to wipe previously granted assessment credit from transcript if I were to reapply to TESU at a later date?

They are RA courses.

from the policy FAQ under the question "why did tesu clarify the policy.....ace/nccrs" with bold emphasis mine:

"We believe that baccalaureate graduates of an accredited academic institution should have at least 30 credits and associate graduates should have at least 15 credits from an accredited academic institution. TESU requires that students take Critical Information Literacy (SOS-110) and their Capstone course from TESU. We encourage students to take more courses at TESU and to meet our institutional 16 credit residency (12 credits for an associate degree and 24 credits for a bachelor’s degree for military students). As an alternative, students may take courses from other accredited higher education institutions."

from the FAQ https://www.tesu.edu/admissions/faqs-transfer-credit

"If your record already has more than 45/90 credits from any single source, we will allow that to remain on your record as long as you maintain enrollment."

There is more in that section of the FAQ. I encourage to read the whole part for more info.

I'm the opposite of you. All of my credits, except for two TESU classes, come from CLEPs, DSSTs, SL, and SDC. Just emailed my advisor, hopefully I can get everything done by March. That was the plan anyway.

Hopefully you're safe but if not TECEPS and UExcels would be a good option for "real" college credits.

I have been reading it over and over (in disbelief) for the past several hours :')

I've edited my post above to make it more clear. "Maintaining enrollment" ends as soon as you graduate or become inactive. What does it mean for those that re-enroll to pursue a second degree? What will be on the transcript, and will TESU continue to evaluate all credit without applying more than 90 to any single degree?

TECEPS and UExcels will still get you college credits. People will just have to switch some of their courses to those.

I know it's annoying but it's not the end of the world.

I can understand , but it sure would help if colleges including tesu would offer more independent study courses Particularly upper level for working folks. And also it would help if those independent courses qualified for financial aid.

@Pats20 , the closest thing to what you're referring to is - E-packs, they are eligible for financial aid and residency credits at TESU.
