Graham School - University of Chicago
#1
I have no need of anymore degrees or certificates. However, I do enjoy life-long learning.

From time to time the University of Chicago Graham School hosts discussions regarding upcoming classes. I recently enjoyed Shakespeare in an Unforgiving 2023

I am looking forward to Science and Liberalism, which will be presented on September 11. See link below.

https://graham.uchicago.edu/events/science-and-liberalism-09-11-23

I guess these are infomercials for the Graham School's Master of Liberal Arts and Basic Program of Liberal Education. I find these FREE Zoom discussions to entertaining and worthwhile. Should it ever make sense, budget wise, I would love to enroll in either the Master of Liberal Arts or Basic Program. I inserted a link below to the recording of the Shakespeare in an Unforgiving 2023  To me it was very educational and thought provoking.

Wow, Interesting subject to say the least, that video is 45 minutes...
Hmm, it'll be 30 minutes if I go at 1.5x speed on the YouTube video...

Despite living in a "post-truth" era, the truth is still very important.

I enjoyed it. Honestly, I'd never heard of Christopher Marlowe. Now I'm looking for a good version of Dido, Queen of Carthage.
Professor Jones introduced some great discussion points, such as  'Shakespeare created the human' were thought provoking.

I read this and think how sad it is that you hadn't heard of Christopher Marlowe. A wonderful writer of the era that was rumored to be William Shakespeare. I read Marlowe before ever reading Shakespeare. I'm glad you found him and hope that it sparked a wonderful fire Smile

Thank you! The discussion did indeed spark a fire. As stated, to me, these discussions are educational. I will, without doubt, learn something new on the next one. Big Grin

As I look forward to the discussion on Science- and Liberalism, I just received notification of another fascinating lecture - How Technology Shapes Ideas https://graham.uchicago.edu/events/how-t...s-09-14-23   I may tune into this one as well.

Here is the recording of the Science and Liberalism discussion. I found it provocative and discomforting. Yet, very much worth my time

As I've previously stated, I really enjoy these Graham School talks. Should I ever find a way for it to make sense financially, I will enroll in the Basic program.
