Graduating from TESU with all transfer credits
#11
MINHAC Wrote:Thank you, so it looks like the actually cost at TESU is going to be in the $3,000+ range, and that's not counting the CLEP costs. I was hoping for a more time/cost efficient route. Any way to hack this a bit that I'm not seeing?

More cost effective? I'm sorry, but this is so exceptionally cost effective that you should be impressed.

I certainly understand that. Absolutely. But it's more than what was discussed on some other posts. I'm simply trying to get as much info as possible.

In the past for some degrees particularly for BSBA TESU was the cheapest but that is slowly changing. TESU tends to be more flexible on transfer credit but policies do change from time to time. TESU's policies and fees have changed recently so a lot of the posts you might be reading are older. The residency waiver fee is new so there is less information known about it. Also fees tend to increase over time so any posts from 5 to 10 years ago are going to have lower costs listed. Saylor courses are $25 for 3 credits and there are a couple of courses that are free (TEEX cybersecurity courses and free ethics course).

At TESU you have the application fee (which can sometime be waived by attending an information session), the residency waiver fee, the cost of the capstone course, the cost of the cornerstone course (TESU currently allows it to be waived) and the graduation fee. Some degrees may require specific courses that are not easily transferred in and may have to be taken at TESU. The BA in Psych degree is more expensive currently because there are requirements that are harder to satisfy. TESU does offer discounts for study.com members through affiliate pricing.

Some Excelsior degrees have a 3 cr capstone.

COSC has the GRE exam option for 18 cr. However, that limits you to what degrees you get. Probably just a General Studies degree with concentration.

ALEKS expired last month but got renewed late. They are likely to expire and get renewed last month.

An associates degree would be cheap and quick if you went for a school offering an AAS BOG degree.

Most of them give credit for certifications.

PLA can help save money at TESU. The other schools are kind of expensive for PLA. TESU is kind of expensive too, but it seems worthwhile you think you can get many credits. It doesn't seem to save time.

It also greatly depends on what courses you bring in. If you have courses already, that will change what you might want to study and how much the rest is going to cost.

At this current time (and that time is going away soon), the TESU BSBA is the cheapest degree; but, that includes using Study.com's affiliate pricing to get the residency waiver for $1800 and waiving the capstone course; and using the capstone TECEP, which is going away after the June term.

You might want to rush like some of us and do the BSBA. You would be one of the last ones in.
