I'm looking for a certificate program for teaching adult learners. Since more and more courses are going to be online, I'm wanting to either teach college students, or to do something like a program mentor role.
Of course, I want quick and cheap. I'm willing to put in the work, I just prefer not to be tied to a quarter/semester/term system for the certificate. And, as always, I'm looking for the best deal.
Thanks, Denise
Denise

Certificate - Workers Comp Admin, UC Davis Extension, 1995
AA - Licensed Vocational Nursing and Selected Studies, Mesa College 1989
Certificate - Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN), Mesa College 1977
Also, someday maybe a MS in Forensic Psychology, just for fun. Oh, and a BS in Animal Behavior. And, maybe when I'm 85 a PhD in something fun.

I'm not sure what quick and cheap would mean to you, but if you want graded credits, you might consider UC-Berkeley, at an estimated $2100 with 4 courses: https://extension.berkeley.edu/public/ca...teId=17134
Or, UC-San Diego: https://extension.ucsd.edu/courses-and-p...t-learners
Their actual individual courses seem to only take a few weeks each. When I was looking into college counseling certificates, these two and UCLA were at the top of my list until I discovered the programs at Columbia and Rice. I'm sure there are other certificates out there, but this is what a search turned up.

○Certificate College Access Counseling | Rice

This looks good. Only one is a cohort type class, the rest are online alone

Good to hear; anecdotally, I have a friend who completed the UCLA counseling program of (I believe) 7 courses in around 3 months while working full-time. With your motivation, maybe you could progress more quickly through one of those UC options.
I was surprised that I couldn't find too many other competitive certificate options for either adult learners or college counseling. For counseling, I even read someone's Ed.D. dissertation on online certificate programs and realized the author had only uncovered the exact same handful of options that had popped up in my own searches. I'm surprised the market isn't larger.

Good to know. I had looked before I posted and hadn't found much. I was really surprised given how normal online learning was even before Covid. It seemed like that would be a good side gig, but I needed to know how to teach adults
