So with plan B a go ahead, I am now preparing to take American Lit for 6 UL hours next Tuesday and US History I.
The topics seem to overlap a lot, and support each other.
I am using some of the links I have found through searching this site to quiz myself in addition to IC.
AL seems doable. I have "The Complete Idiot's Guide", plus, the Norton online Quizzes. I got a "60" on the first Peterson's practice for AL, so I think I should be fine.
However I got a 38 on the first Peterson's US History, but to be very honest, I took it late at night, in a somewhat "happy" state, on a whim...:o
I have since reviewed every question, and am going to do the IC cards a few more times before attempting the other US H I two practice tests.
I have also taken the CLEP practicee tests, and done well on those...basically memorized them.
What did you find the most difficult about the US History tests?
Areas to know well? I would be happy to just pass at this point.
Tuesday will hopefully bring me 9 hours closer to my goal.
Thanks for reading...

I have taken both Amer Lit and US History 1 and although I agree that they may overlap in certain time periods per se, you really need to be sharp on you Amer Lit facts like those found in the idiots guide which is what I used. As for overlapping with US history, I would suggest a broader and deeper study in that area; I used the REA book.
GOOD LUCK!!

Thanks...that helps. The Idiot's guide is helping a lot for the American Lit. I did pass a Peterson first time out on that at 60, going to take another in a little while tonight.
I just took a Peterson's for US History I and passed this time with a 53. I am still struggling a bit there. The answers seem so similar, and I struggle with time periods, and names, and bills, etc..., concepts I understand. I don't have the REA book, but I am using the AP Am History quizzes, and the CLEP practice book and most of all IC!
I am wondering if I am trying to do too much by taking two in the same day. I have so much other stuff going on, but it feels so satisfying to get more credits out of the way...I am a woman possessed right now.
More advice most welcome,
thanks

Hi CT-
since you're asking for advice and since i'm a mom so i can't resist giving it, here's my 2 cents (and my kids will tell you it's not worth thathilarious ). your scores are great! your system seems to be working for you. but the biggest thing is you're so motivated. for me, if i am motivated to do anything, i go with it. so i say GO FOR IT!

LOL...I'm a mom too, and I know how that advice thing goes. Just got a 59 on the 2nd Peterson's practice for AL, so I'm feeling good about that one.
I am going to study off and on all day tomorrow, with planned breaks, two more practice tests for each subject; get a good night's sleep and just go for it on Tuesday.
It's the first time I've taken two CLEPS in a day, but heck I've taken more than one exam in a day before for some of my independent study courses...
Grrr...motivation counts for a lot! AND Please, the more encouraging and helpful advice, the better!!
Thanks!
