Second update ... it's been a bad week for my family, but things are better, now.
My brother set his recovery back a bit when he fell on Thursday night, landing on the broken leg. It appears that he did no permanent damage, but we'll know more next week. (I told him that it might not be all bad if he gets additional hardware out of the deal. I believe his response, verbatim, was "you aren't funny, you know.")
My dad finally got home from the hospital late yesterday. During observation, his medical team discovered that his heartbeat was not only irregular but becoming moreso. He can now say he's had shock therapy as a result (and his heartbeat's back to normal.) There are definitely some dietary changes in my parents' future; if they stay with them, this procedure will definitely have been for the best.
Again, thank you for all of your thoughts, prayers, and energies. I so appreciate the support shown here.
