General Education Electives?
#1
I'm puzzling over general education electives...I am not sure I can count on XAMK Game Creation courses coming in as Gen Ed electives so I am wondering if Sophia Taking Charge of Personal Finances would fit in as a Gen Ed?  Also, has anyone had Project Management come in as a Gen Ed?  I've got Business Law but wonder if that is disqualified as a business course?  Thanks in advance!!

Depends on the school, sounds like maybe TESU? If so, none of those courses are GE electives, those are all free electives.

Yes, TESU...thanks, don't know why gen eds are hard for me to figure out.  I've been combing the forum taking notes in 2 columns "gen eds" and "other" Smile.  I'll go back to the drawing board and move a few more courses around to see if I can find the magic balance Smile.  Appreciate the help!  Have read conflicting advice on Project Management and also on CSMLearn that these two might come in as gen ed credits, I'd rather be safe than sorry, though.

100% PM will not come in as GE.

Stick to things like psych, history, art, music, soc, CJ, etc. No business unless it has a non-business component (Business Comm, Business Psych, Business Ethics, etc.)

Other courses such as an Economics (Macro and/or Micro) will come in for TESU as a general education versus a free elective. The majority of business related courses will remain as free electives if you're going for a BALS degree.

Yes, BALS degree.  Thank you for the further explanation.  I wonder why the Sophia course Taking Charge of Your Economic Future wouldn't be a gen ed...it seems like it should be an economic course (and the title says "economic").  CSMLearn did not seem like a business course at all to me.  This is why I consider this category (Gen Ed electives) kind of a mystery.  However, I know I just need to move on, follow the rules, get the degree, Smile.  I appreciate the patient replies!!

If you update to the new catalog, there is no distinction between gen ed electives and free electives. There are only electives.

Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)

Sophia's Taking Charge of Your Economic Future is actually just Personal Finance - not an econ course.
